Christians...is there any preaching at your church against other religions?

Question

I have only been to one where the preacher went out of his way to tell us how awful certain other religious groups are. No one in the congregation seemed to argue with what was said. I was a guest, and knew that what was said was not true (since I had been to the churches of these religions which were being picked on.)

I'm assuming that most of you don't experience this at your church. But I know it exists...have any of you seen this taking place? My next question is, do you ever question what is said? Or do you go along with it because a church leader is saying it?

No, my dad is the pastor and he says nothing about other religions in his sermons, i have talked with him at home and even though he disagrees with them he is nice, kind respectful and treats them all the same as anyone else, for the bible says love your neighbors as yourself, that is everybody ,nomatter what color their skin is or what their religoun is. Infact dad is quite intrested in other religouns to find out how they think and their practices. One of my best friends is a hindu and i am a christian, that changes I know that this exists first hand. I have been told by several friends (Of different religions) that because I'm a mormon, I am wrong and believe false teachings. At another church someone even said that their pastor/minister said that the mormons were wrong because of a scripture in revelation.It says that no man shall add to this book, but many people don't realize that just because revelation is at the end of the bible, it actually wasn't the last book written. Also, the book of mormon isn't an addition to the bible, nor is it all the LDS church believes. We believe in both the bible and Book of Mormon, which as it states on the cover is "Another testament of Jesus Christ". I was also told by one of my friends who was told by his church leader, that the Mormon church doesn't do the communion/sacrament. I have never heard any of my leaders bash other religions, but I have heard other members (non-leaders) bash other religions. We're not perfect, but the church leaders are very supportive and understanding of other beliefs.

My parents' preacher bashes my church. It's pretty sad. My parents don't have a clue what I believe because of him. For some reason they won't listen to me because of this guy. My parents won't even take the time to learn about my church on their own and make up their own minds. I think it's sad.

Our church encourages us to ask questions and to pray and ponder things that we don't understand. And we are taught to only accept confirmation from the Holy Ghost.

The Episcopal church does not do this. And being a somewhat rebellious group, no we do not follow something just because the priest says it. Now if a Bishop asked us to do something we might have to think about it if we didn't agree. But we are to follow our conscience first. As to church teaching, we expect that our priest, bishops, etc. have been trained correctly in church doctrine to teach us correctly.

Yes I have questioned church leaders and they have reassured me with book/chapter/verse from the oracles of God. There is never anything wrong with questioning things but ofcourse it should be done with respect and love for the one we are questioning.

Christians are not to be lukewarm fence sitters when it comes to biblical truths. Christians are to present the oracles of God with AGAPE love but not wavering, standing firmly.
