I am Baptist, I have faith, but I do not entirely believe the bibles' story. I look at it as a guide to right and wrong and I believe that it may be based on true events. I want to hear from the christians that put all of their belief in it. How can you put so much belief in it when it has no proof. How is it that the bible starts at day 1 of the earths creation but never mentions dinosaurs or even neanderthals. Why can't the Bible be a book that a man wrote, then had published? Or even a book written, forgotten and buried. Then one day everything on earth was wiped clean except the Bible. Evolution takes place and a human finds this book and says "This is it, this is how it all happened!" So many different scenerios. Why is it we can't believe in God without a Bible?

I have attended several Baptist churches for a period of time, but what I found at each is that the ministers teach that the Bible is fact, I asked these questions and no answers came, so I wanted to know what drove other believers in the matter.

We have faith in the bible because it is the Inspired Word of God. In other words, men, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote the bible. It's infallablitity is insured because of the Holy Spirit.
I totally understand the questions you have. When certain parts are taken literally, nothing makes sense, yet we know in our hearts we are supposed to believe what the bible says. The confusion you're running into is a result of misinterpretation of scripture. Here's what I mean:
I am a former protestant who became Catholic. I became Catholic after studying the history of Christianity and its teachings. Through the course of my studies, I've had numerous discussions with non-Catholics over the bible. Most of our debates went in circles over this belief or that, constantly throwing scriptures back and forth to prove our point and getting nowhere. Eventually it occured to me what the problem was. We were both believers in the bible, but our differences were over interpretation. I then began to understand that I needed to show them where to go for the correct interpretations, starting off with explaining where the bible came from in the first place.
The Church teaches that there are several different factors that come into play when interpreting holy scripture. For example, we have to take into account the time period a scripture was written in, who the author was, the original language used and how it was used, as well as literary elements of writing like poetry, narrative, metaphor, and so forth. Next, we have to take into account that it was the early Catholic Church that wrote and gave us the bible, not the bible first then the Church. We have to go to Her - learn her beliefs - in order to correctly understand scripture since She is the one who wrote it.
Hopefully I'm not confusing you, but my point is that I came to understand that if I wanted someone to see how to correctly interpret scripture, I needed to first show them where the bible came from and the different elements involved in correctly interpreting what they're reading. Please know that I'm not bashing other denominations; I'm simply pointing out a method, a source for understanding what needs to be taken into consideration when wanting to know the truth contained in the scriptures.
Thank you for letting me rant, lol. God bless, and take care.

Many people believe in God without a Bible. There are Christians that believe exactly what you wrote. It must be that you are unfamiliar with others who believe this way.The questions you ask have been asked by many others ( now and in times past...... another reason that there are so many different Christian religions.) The truth is that you can believe whatever you choose to. And practice as you feel you must. I encourage you to explore your faith and ask the questions you need answers too. Visit other churches. It is a great learning experience. And it helps you in your spiritual path.

Dear, my question to you is, where do you get your information about God, about Jesus, if not from the bible? Where do you get the assurance that if you believe in the son of God, you will be saved from hell? I believe because I have spent years studying the bible, in depth, and have to come see that indeed it is the word of God.
My counsel to you is to seek a good bible teaching church and get into a good bible study with other believers. Really put it to the test by studying it carefully, and thoughtfully. Especially in the last days, it is extremely important to know what God's word says, for protection and for assurance. It is also imperative to know you can trust every word as the truth.

Your Baptist? That's not what Baptists believe. If you think evolution has more proof than the bible, you're not really looking too hard. I'll stick with what has changed my life. No one can dispute it. It's the proof I need.

The Bible is God's Word. It's His letter to us. And the stories aren't just based on real events. THEY ARE REAL EVENTS. It's a simple concept. God knows everything. He knows exactly what happened in the past, He knows exactly what's happening now, and He knows exactly what's going to happen in the next minute, the next hour, the next day, and forever on to infinity. Follow Him. Believe in Him. And TRUST. Have FAITH.
God Bless.

Excellent point. Take away the bible and God doesn't exist. That should bother Christians, but it doesn't. And yet, they talk about having a personal relationship with him.

According to the Bible...
God deliberately killed every living thing on Earth.
Genesis 7:20-24 20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. 21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: 22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. 23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. 24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.
Lot had sexual intercourse with his daughters.
Genesis 19: 33-36 33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay* with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. 34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay* yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie* with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. 35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. 36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father. [*lie/lay: to have sex with]
God ordered Abraham to murder his son Isaac.
Genesis 22:2 2 And [God] said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
God murdered innocent children.
Exodus 12:29 29 And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote* all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. [*smote: to kill]
