An answerer on here (Acid Bath Slayer) once answered a question similar to this. He said:

Philosopher and literary critic Galen Strawson once proposed that it was the atheists and agnostics that god must love the most: "For they are the ones who have taken him most seriously." Strawson saw belief in god as an inherent insult to god himself. A god which gave us reason would want us to use it, wouldn't he? In a dispassionate and honest pursuit of god, I have found nothing but creations of men. I take the questions of theology very seriously for they relate to my passage in this life. But, I have an obligation and responsibility to rationality. I can only believe those things for which I have reason to believe. I can only set my beliefs to be proportional with evidence and logical deliberation. Sure, a heaven may sound good, but it is wishful thinking only. Even if there was a god, would he rather you honestly disbelieve or dishonestly and emotionally pursue him endlessly without any means, reason, or foundation?

I saved it because I found it very interesting. I do have to say that for myself, I take the issue of "God" much more seriously as an atheist than I did when I was a believer. I know much more as an atheist than I did as a believer. I'm not an atheist because I don't WANT to believe in God, I'm an atheist because right now I have no reason to believe in God. If there IS a God, then I want to know about Him, and I want to believe in Him. I refuse to just take it on "faith", though.
One thing I know... If, someday, I come face to face with "God"...He CAN'T say that I didn't search for Him more intently and seriously than any believer that anyone can name.

Lol. I do get sick of pretending to be a good Christain girl who goes to church every Sunday... it'd be kind of hard to be an athiest at a catholic school though, lol. But you know what I really wish... I wish that Catholics could choose to be confirmed at 18 instead of 14. See, my elementary school literally forced all of the Catholics to get confirmed before high school. I really wish I would have had the time to think about whether or not I really wanted that, or at least the option of not becoming a full-fledged member. Because honestly, I really can't see myself a practicing Christian in the future.
I liked your question.

Hmm, so if you're a fake atheist, does that make you a fake Christian? Or is a fake Christian really an atheist?
I would rather go about my merry way than baiting others.

I am a fake Christian, and a real agnostic. I do not really like being a hypocrite, but I seem to be stuck in the role.

Being an atheist is great for you few second here on earth. After that it's better to be a Christian for the next eternity.

It is so easy to agree with people just find a question that has alot of room for interpataion. I think that has been going on from the beginning. It makes people feel important, fit in, superior ect. Thank God we can think with our own mind and not everyone Else's.
