it seems like the answers from the believers just talk in circles. there seems to be very little depth in the bible's teachings. "god did it" "satan did it" "god gave us free will" "the bible says so" these are considered intelligent answers to the ones who use them.

i don't think it's enough. i want to know *why*.

i want to eat from the tree of knowlege - why is that such a bad thing? "because god says so".

why do people follow their faith so blindly? why are they afraid to ask questions? why do people have to thank god for the good things and blame their own misdoings on the work of satan's influence?

i truly feel that people can believe in whatever religion they choose, but i don't think it gives any validity to your beliefs when you can't answer the tough questions properly, especially when you're trying to spread the word of "truth" to the non believers.

If you are opposed to gay rights such as marriage, what are you willing to do to keep it from becoming legal (US)? Would you be willing to protest like Fred Phelps if that was your last option to prevent the passage of guaranteed legal rights for gays?

FYI Fred Phelps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_phelps

my friend seems to think they should teach creationism in the schools science class rather than evolution. I disagreed with this on two levels. First off religion doesnt belong in science class and its stupid to think that it should be (what kind of tests are u gonna do for creationism, and remember no bible) second i think that if u do teach the christian creation story, u have to teach the other stories too, because what sets them apart from any other religion. what makes their book of god more "real" than any other book of god? I have asked this question before and got terrible answers. please i want some good answers. do you agree with me or no on the fact that creationism shouldnt be taught in science class and if they did teach it at school, they would have to teach all the religious (well maybe just the popular ones) creation stories

are you all aware that there are people who die for their faith to this day?
We just received the sad news this morning that 3 people were killed in Turkey. They were attacked where they work.

(I know you all do - there are many examples - I just needed to word this as a question.)

If you are so moved, lets say a prayer today - or good thoughts, or whichever faith or belief you possess, for the families and persons who are working hard to make the world a better place today. Our soldiers, our peacekeepers, our missionaries, our charitable workers, and especially for the families of those who have died.

blessings to all :)

After Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Abram's wife Sarai took Hagar the Egyptian, her maid, and gave her to her husband Abram as HIS WIFE. -- GENESIS 16:3

So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram called the name of HIS SON, whom Hagar bore, ISHMAEL. - GENESIS 16:15

Deu 21:15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:
Deu 21:16 Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:
Deu 21:17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a DOUBLE portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the FIRSTBORN is his.

I was recently shown this. I am completely stunned by this and have no idea what to think. Religion aside, this is wrong in my eyes.

Do you see this as brainwashing? They picket at dead soldiers' funerals. "Thank God For Dead Soldiers"

If you can watch this all tell me what you think... Is it wrong and disgusting or do you agree with them... What are your thoughts?

I am curious. Do people really believe that the only thing that matters is that he said that he believes in Jesus? Does his action of murdering 32 innocent people not negate this? Don't your actions account for anything?

For those people that do in fact believe that he will be "saved", do you believe that he is a better and more deserving person of saving than someone who does nothing but good in this world and life (helping the homeless, neglected and abused children, etc.), but did not choose to accept Jesus as his/her savior?

I am wondering how one reconciles these opposing ideas within themselves.

People say ....if you kill a stem cell then ur killing an unborn baby.

First of all a stem cell is just that. A cell...not a baby.

Second of all...most of them cells r going to be discarded anyway if not used for research

Third ...for those who wants to save these stem cells....why dont they set up funds to raise the kids that come out of them then?

Fourth and my favorite logic. READY!? Following your logic: A stem cell can lead to a baby....is an unborn human being. THEN! Every sperm is also a potential baby. So you should say to guys that they should not wack off because they are killing 200+ million babies each time.

If your going to advocate for stem cell's liberation then you have to do so for sperm's lives too. It's just fair.

you agree?

stop pretending to help people and just tell them, "I'm sorry, the bible said that the poor would always exist, so it's God's will that we let you suffer"? Honestly, isn't that about the crappiest copout answer on the planet! Just because there is one verse in the bible saying that doesn't make it an infallible curse of God--we still need to try!

How true Everything that lives must die like human beings, animlas Plant life..That is Normal..

HOWEVER is Murder and Illness Normal?
or is that just a bi-product of a im-perfect earth?

How do you explain a person that lives to the ripe old age of 100 and maybe a baby born to a terminal illness dies at 2?

Is it your belief everyone who is born is pre-destined to die in a certain fashion? or is it just bad timing, bad genes? being poor? Everyone must die but you cannot control when that day will be or how it will be so I assume being alive is just LUCK how long you live? (Of course I don't believe this way)

Death IMO is where Atheism really becomes stuck in there belief.

Through my bible studies and understanding of God. God loves all. God said love thy neighbor. God loves anybody and everybody. God said love each other and don't fight.

Yet, you see these churches....religious folks...politicians that don't approve of gays/lesbians. Why do they care so much? Why don't they listen to God? Love thy neighbor. Them being gay has nothing to do with anyone else. It does not affect your lives for those who are not.

so why are some churches are against gays?

Be logical. Be Christian...if not that's ok too. But be fair and love everybody around you.

The believers will expect the non believers to see the light, and the non believers hope the religious will come to their senses.

Emotions will make the ultimate decision. Logic is a slave to emotions.
