This is so that their prayers would be answered.Apparently the name Jesus is not correct and should be Yeshua. But why only is this brought out now? It had been Jesus for soooo long!

She is confused. Should she go to another church? Do all churches think like this?

First up, let's imagine a venn diagram: Two concentric circles. All Catholics (small circle) are Christian (large circle). But not all christians are catholics. Ok.

I'm truly confused as to why people seem to keep saying this like 'Catholics pray this way, but christians pray like...'; Is this an intentional form of linguistic arrogance - othering Catholics to try and downplay their part in Christianity? Or is simply confusion?

I'm agnostic. I'm just curious.

You can't assume as existent the very thing whose existence is in question.... can you??

Can I do the same thing, but with another deity? "I can't prove Quetzalcoatl to you, only Quetzalcoatl can do that". Does that mean you're ACTUALLY going to first assume that Quetzalcoatl DOES exist and then ask him to prove it to you?

I usually always fight with her over her beliefs because i find them totally illogical and she claims to be a smart and logical thinker.

But then she said she doesn't indefintely believe all of the teachings of JW's including Paradise on earth! She has no problem believing we die there is no paradise. That is the main teaching and she doesn't believe it completely!?

Also, she said that it doesn't make sense that Jesus had to die in order for us to die for his sins.

I asked her why did she get baptized and why does she still go to the hall. She told me that she goes because it keeps her stay a good person. The only problem is that I don't consider her a good person just because she follows their rules.

She doesn't save lives or improve them. She just exists and doesn't sin. So her reason is stupid, she witnesses to people about beliefs she questions herself; she just grew up as one and never tried anything else. How is that beneficial? How does this better our world?

God know there would be a lot of confusion in the last days with many churches claiming to be the one true church. Through His servant John he gave us a book called Revelation. In the book, Jesus gives us the scripture to know His one true church. It's found in Rev. 14:12 "Here are the patience of the saints; here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. It's not enough to just have faith in Jesus, if you love Him you will also be a commantment keeper.

Is there anyone who can refute that, of course that would only be refuting the word of God.

If I have done something wrong and am in the process of making it right...will God forgive me?

Is it necessary to make a public confession of my wrongdoing if I have apologized to the person and to God? This is something I can make right quietly and I prefer to do so if possible. I have been slightly dishonest with the person I am dealing with about the details of the situation, but as long as I make things right with her (I owe her money and am in the process of paying her back) do I have to explain myself to anyone else or clear up the finer details with her as long as I make it right? This is really bothering me and I need this burden lifted from me. Thanks for your help.

He is sullying his whole family's name by hating everyone else. But when you think about it, this 1 man is bringing a whole bunch of races, religions, sexual orientations, etc together to love one another. Fred's hate towards everyone makes everyone hate him and love everyone else. Do you think he is actually doing what he does to make us respect each other? Can you kinda see what I mean? Can you kinda agree with me?

Our resurrected saviour to the world promises we do not die in vain, he promises we will live again he eliminated death and the grave when he rose from the dead and ascended in into heaven

Some of the horrible ways that people leave this earth wether it was what happened at VT OR senseless murders of innocent people.

What about Children that die through horrible diseases or at the hands of thier parents or predators die just because that's the way of the world is, there gone, finito.

How do you see death and dying and what comfort do you have when someone you love dies?

I was raised Catholic but do not practice. I don't agree with a lot of the standards, such as priests not being allowed to marry, not eating meat on Good Friday, giving something up for Lent, etc. I think these "rules" are silly and should not affect your relationship with God.
I am at a loss because I want to be a Christian and go to church but I don't want to be a Catholic. Would it make sense for me to go to a non-denominational church? Can I get married in a ND church? Would going here help me figure out where I stand with religion?

It is not only the evangelical Christian community that believes homosexual marriages will have an ill effect on children. Leading educators also agree. Consider what Pitirim Sorokin, founder and first chair of the Sociology Department at Harvard, says about marriage: “The most essential sociocultural patterning of a newborn human organism is achieved by the family. It is the first and most efficient sculptor of human material, shaping the physical, behavioral, mental, moral and sociocultural characteristics of practically every individual. …From remotest past, married parents have been the most effective teachers of their children.”

African schools are studying up on massacres and Gang Rapes on a massive scale. The earliest we can find is that which was used against us by clergy and missionaries. In the Bible, Jehovah god, commands Jewish boys to Gang Rape 32,000 baby virgin girls, after stealing the land from the people. When was Numbers written? Is this the earliest date in literature that we can find of Gang Rapes? This text was used by European clergy and missionaries to Gang Rape the native people and started before Slavery. The missionaries would hold the Bible in one hand, while doing their rapes, claiming they were doing so by the order of Jehovah. They were never punished for it just like those Jewish boys who did the rapes in Numbers. It is important to find out the origin of such terrorism.

This is just out of curiosity. I would like to connect with more people on here that believe in what I believe in. Include in your post your favorite scripture from either the bible or the book of mormon. There really couldn't be a "best answer" to this question, so I'll just let you know right now, that I'll pick the "best answer" based on the scripture quote that I favor out of everyones.
Take care and god bless!

In a universe of blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, other people are going to get lucky, and you won't find any rhyme or reason in it, nor any justice. The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil and no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference. As that unhappy poet A.E. Housman put it: `For Nature, heartless, witless Nature Will neither care nor know.' DNA neither cares nor knows. DNA just is. And we dance to its music." (Dawkins R., "River out of Eden: A Darwinian View of Life," Phoenix: London, 1996, p.155. Emphasis in original)

No good. No evil. No justice. Just do whatever you want. If people get hurt, oh, well. That's just the luck of the draw.

That has lost a loved one in death other than the comfort that comes from GOD's promises?

When listening to the Connvocation at VT I noticed that the spiritual leaders a Muslim, Buddhist Female Rabbi AND A lutheran minister offered words of philosophy and kind words to the audience.

HOWEVER no one mentioned Jesus Christ and that his resurrection promises we DO NOT DIE IN VAIN..We have the promise of seeing our loved ones once more where sickness, pain and death will be wiped out..

I listened to the Rev Graham speak on the News that he and his chaplains were on campus offering hope and comfort to all with the promises of our Lord Jesus Christ...

Do you think there is any true comfort to someone just by saying *I'm sorry and offering Kind words?
or
By offering Comfort with the words from our Lord Jesus Christ?

I'm calling out the person (s) that keep reporting mine and other people's JW questions. It is time you stopped being a coward and confess. Whoever you are you know good and well some of those questions were perfectly legitamate and contained no violations. Just because you don't like what you see doesn't mean you have the right to report it. It isn't fair and it isn't right. First of all you are encouraged not to participate in such sites like this one by the watchtower.

So I'm calling you out. Who are you and what is your defense? Why don't you mind your own business and keep your beliefs to yourself and leave other people to have theirs. By reporting questions, you only make people assume you have something to hide or that there is truth to the question.

I'm calling you out. Go ahead, report this question too. But know that you are a coward for doing so.

The Fitzroy River Turtle (Rheodytes leukops) AKA the "bum-breathing turtle".

"The turtle draws in water through its bottom (cloacal vent), extracts oxygen from the water and then squirts it out again. It can obtain as much as two-thirds of its oxygen and survive up to four days by breathing this way. This adaptation allows the turtle to avoid predators and concentrate on finding food."

How funny is that?!

This question might become slightly offensive, sorry for that. But I'm truly trying to understand the Trinity.

Is it like one being with three personalities? Like, when Jesus hung on the cross, he said "Oh Father, why hast thou forsaken me"...does that mean one of the personalities left his body, but the other two remained?

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to claim that crucifixion could be a good medical treatment for Multiple Personality Disorder. Really, that would be out of line. I'm not even implying that, really.

I'm just trying to understand. Is it something like MPD?
