This is so that their prayers would be answered.Apparently the name Jesus is not correct and should be Yeshua. But why only is this brought out now? It had been Jesus for soooo long!

She is confused. Should she go to another church? Do all churches think like this?

No, all churches do not think like this. I shudder to think that Christ died for me, only for me to not be heard because I don't call Him by His so-called rightful name. In Hebrew, that is His name. Personally,I don't speak it. I speak Ameringlish. (American English) I'll call Him Jesus, and take my chances. It's worked before.

Something as big as that may be a cause for concern about whether she should stay there.

The name of Jesus is pronounced differently in many languages, yet God still pays attention to the prayers. However, a church suddenly changing from the name Jesus to Yeshua, could be a sign of extreme legalism moving in. Is someone in the church suddenly claiming to have special divine revelation from God? Are they saying that all the other churches are incorrect? Doesn't the minister know that prayers in the name of Jesus are being answered? I hate to say it, but could be time to attend a new church. Watch as well as pray.

All churches have their rules. Jesus has been Anglicized and is known by the western world. You could certainly call him by his original name, if you like.

The more important question is why does this church believe that Jesus will answer prayers only if they call out to Yeshua? For that matter, why would they believe that Jesus would answer any prayers? Prayers have been shown to be ineffective in getting what you want. It is far more effective to actually make your own way in the world than to rely on divine intervention.

Besides, I would think that Jesus/Yeshua would better respect your friend's belief if she answered her own prayers rather than depend on him like a crutch.

I suggest leaving the church, but it's not so much because of the Jesus/Yeshua thing. Churches are run by men, and men are imperfect and filled with agendas. If she wants to truly learn about life, she should question many people and not rely on the dictum of any single man, priest or no.

Yeshua is the correct name for the Son of God. However to say your prayers will not be answered if you use the name Jesus that is not true. God knows the heart and hears the prayers of the believers.

Depends on the church. Do they preach only what is in the Bible? Are they extreme on other subjects? When someone is told they can do things only a certain way, that is not good. (Except of course in accepting salvation. That's a bit concrete.) I think Jesus knows who you are talking to no matter what name you use for Him. There are so many names in the Bible for God (El Shaddai, Elohim, Yahweh) that as long as you use one of them, its fine. No one should be forced to do anything. That is why God gave us free will in the first place. And that is why Jesus has so many names listed in the Bible. If this issue causes strife in the church, she should probably pray about it and discuss it with others who feel the same way. If she still feels uncomfortable and it is getting in the way of learning more about Christ, then she should probably leave and find a church that she is comfortable in and can get fed spiritually without bondage.

Yeshua (Hebrew) = Jesus (English)

They're just the same name only in a different language. I think her church only wants a homie effect, like it would make them closer to Jesus..... Thats weird.

One day the Pope declared something about the use of cultural practices and their fusion with the religion practices (ie. the holding of your seatmate's hands in the prayer of Our Father (almost everyone does this)) here (Philippines), but the masses and some members of the CBCP (Catholic Bishop's Conference of the Philippines) said no......

It really is up to you in what you believe in.. after all he gave us 'free-will' (the thing on doing whats right and good)

Yeshua is his Jewish name, given at birth, with which he was brought up. Jesus is an English adaptation of the Hebrew. Different names, same person....

In Hebrew there is no J. That's why God's real name is YAHWEH and Christ's name is YESHUAH. I don't know who translated the Bible in English, but for RESPECT of God's name they should have taken that into consideration. If you want to go by english then the right pronunciation would be YEHOVAH for God and YESHUAH for Jesus. We must all remember that God takes His name very seriously and that is the reason why He said, "Thou will not use my name in vain." So now that we all know the right pronunciation it shouldn't be a problem to say it right. With so many Americans calling God and Yeshuah (Jesus) by a wrong name, could that be why lot's of our prayers go unheard. Could it be why we get so much senseless tragedies that takes innocent people's lives away from all of us. Be in harmony with God.

Jesus, Joshua, Yeshua, Yeshuhoa, Ralph, Engelbert, whatever works for you! The real, original story, is still lost, the story in the Bible is the one invented by Paul to integrate his crazy notion of the Essene's Messiah to the world of Greek and Roman culture. She and you can call him anything you want, it won't make any difference.
