Are you totally creeped out by the idea of the "Reformed" Branch Davidians building a new church and museum on the site of the Branch Davidian compound fire?

So much for the idea that in killing someone, the ideas they spread die with them. This is why killing Bin Laden, though, he richly deserves it, is a bad idea. If we were smart we would have captured him in Tora Bora and he'd be sharing Noriega's fate.
The Branch Davidians are an offshoot of the Seventh Day Adventists. The Adventists are descended from a 19th Century paranormal fraud, er...I mean preacher, named William Miller. This is a man who had the nerve the nerve to predict Doomsday and then when it came and nothing happened, he set another date as Doomsday! This idiocy eventually turned into the Seventh Day Adventist Church! They've been a bunch of loonies since their inception!
The government still shouldn't have sent in tanks.
You don't save kids with armed raids into fortified compounds! The ATF has innocent blood on it's hands. But this is nothing new for the US Government (Hiroshima,Bonus March Massacre, Japanese Internment Camps, Agent Orange, Sacco and Vinzetti, Fallujah, etc. the list goes on).
I don't have any respect for Koresh or his stupid cult or any stupid cult for that matter.
But they didn't deserve to die like that.
But I'm not creeped out. I'm never surprised by the actions of superstitious morons. Cults make people do irrational things.

No. I am NOT creeped out. I think that they should build that thing as a testament of how the government can kill a religious body out of pure spitefully oriented testosterone.

The ATF and the FBI, and the government that was involved did their best to smear the Branch Davidians to add to their guilt. I was in no way impressed by the pictures that they showed, that Koresh was a child molester. Those pictures that I saw had hearts drawn into the walls. Using bright colors to represent the place they lived in. Molested children scribble angrily, and use black to scribble over the gential areas that they portray. The most alarming thing those pictures showed were the depictions of bullet holes in the place, where did the bullets come from? The ATF and the FBI and those that were trying to defend themselves against a government they thought was the devil.

I do not believe the way the Davidians do, but I would defend their right to worship the way they are given the right to by God and the Bill of Rights. If there was a problem with Koresh and the types of firearms that he had, they should have arrested him while he jogged.

That part of our history was as bad and maybe even worse than the concentration camps that our government sent the Japanese to during WW2.

Waco was one of the worst things that the US government did ever to it's citizens.

not really, it's sad what happened there, it's history and should not be forgotten, a memorial is a good idea. It should have been assumed that the Davidians lived on, and promising that they have chosen to live on in the light, where we can see them, instead of as an underground movement that might make the same tragic mistakes

Well, if something good can come of something so horrible, that's a good thing. I'm just not sure this guy's plan is that great. It's just too cult-like.

I like this talk of branches, but they don't mention any trees. In fact, they sound sort of weird. I think I'll pass.
