Here are some of my favorite verses about freedom:

Gal. 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Gal. 5:13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.
Eph. 3:12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

I am free from guilt, I enjoy the freedom to have a relationship with God and can share everthing with Him, I am free from the bondage of sin, free to love others, free to forgive because of God's power available to me.
I don't have to perform to be acceptable to God.

well have a friend who describes freedom in Jesus using this example. He had two dogs at different times. the first dog he had would not obey ,so he brought him to obedience class . but the dog still did not obey. would roam the neighbor and disappear for hours at a time refused to stay by its owner. so there came a point where the only time the dog could go out if it was chained . the second dog would follow him every where never disappeared and listened to him. and the dog was treated as member of the family. so the dog that did what it wanted ended being chained down. while the dog that listened had free reign of its surroundings. the same for us if we follow Jesus , He is responsible for the consequences.

Before being saved, you are like in a prison. You are unable to know God, you are a slave of your own sins, you are judged by God. With Christ, there is no judgment, no more sin. We are free of our burden that was sin. We can now have a relationship with God because he does not consider us wicked anymore.

I view it as freedom from the slavery of sin. When we were dead in our sins we were slaves to it. Now that we are saved, we are freed from it's clutches. This is SO AWESOME!!! I don't HAVE to sin. I can choose to obey God and live for Him:

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace." (Romans 6:1-14)
