my friend seems to think they should teach creationism in the schools science class rather than evolution. I disagreed with this on two levels. First off religion doesnt belong in science class and its stupid to think that it should be (what kind of tests are u gonna do for creationism, and remember no bible) second i think that if u do teach the christian creation story, u have to teach the other stories too, because what sets them apart from any other religion. what makes their book of god more "real" than any other book of god? I have asked this question before and got terrible answers. please i want some good answers. do you agree with me or no on the fact that creationism shouldnt be taught in science class and if they did teach it at school, they would have to teach all the religious (well maybe just the popular ones) creation stories

Of course science students should not study something that contains no science. While Creation might be a swell idea for the beginning of the earth (I happen to disagree), it simply has absolutely nothing to do with science. No scientific study, no evidence, no way of testing. There is no scientific knowledge to be gained from studying Creation. You are also correct in pointing out that we would have to teach ALL spiritual creation stories if we were to address Creation. However, there is already a well established organization to teach such ideas and that is the Church. Why would anyone WANT untrained amateurs teaching their kids religious ideas?
Beyond that, it's simply not going to make the top of the list in importance when considering topics for school curriculum. When we STILL have students graduating who can't read beyond 2nd grade level, we can't possibly consider devoting time to religious studies in public schools. Evolution, however, is the basis for biology, much of medicine, and plays a huge role in the natural sciences. Knowledge of this process is imperative to be able to function in the near future that awaits us and even today.

I do not believe that any type of religion should ever be introduced into the public schools of the United States. [Thomas Edison]
The USA is already falling behind other Industrialized Nations when it comes to science and mathematics.
Should we use ancient Israel as a model for the USA?
They got their asses handed to them by everyone in the region because their religion caused them to fall behind.
What are we going to do when we start to suffer the effects of that mistake? Build a Temple and slaughter goats like the desert peoples did?

I agree in college it will be saved far off from coaching subjective very own ideals as data in matters. the place could it ever end? could desire to a pair youngsters take spell casting instead of certainly chemistry in accordance with ideals? Or how approximately astrology instead of astronomy? Creationism and its cousin sensible layout are actually not genuine scientific theories yet non secular teachings dressed up as such. selections to technology taught consisting of genuine technology in technology type is not greater a valid concept then coaching decision math the place evidence or proofs are not required. Or decision histories the place human beings can only make up memories with regard to the previous that greater healthful their ideals or time table. whether creationism could have a place in coaching what makes a scientific concept a scientific concept not an on a daily basis form of hunch or wager and why creationism would not meet that standards. i think of non secular innovations could have a place in elective faith instructions the place with a bit of luck diverse innovations and religions could be provided in an purpose way yet not in technology type the place they fail to fulfill the standards of being definitely scientific innovations.

No creationism in science class. If parents want their kids to be religious, they should learn how to teach them religion. If they want other people's kids to be religious, they should learn how to mind their own business.

Religion seems like something families (not schools) should teach.
That said, it would be good to expose kids to various theories as to the origin of the world, just so they are prepared to face a world in which major topics seem to always have competing views.

They better not teach that nonsense to my 14 year old son. If you believe in such absurdities, teach it at home.
I agree with you 100%. Science is about facts and educated guesses with proof to back them up. The bible is not proof of anything except how absurd Christianity is.
