What I mean is... do you think you could become a theist or deist if presented with credible evidence? Do you think sufficient evidence exists and can be known? Do you think the concept is logically impossible and therefore could never be "proven" or "evidenced"?

Or.......... am I way off and you feel completely different? If so, feel free to let me know.

P.S. For anyone who doesn't know who me (yes, this is for the n00bs), I'm an atheist. I'm not a Christian who's secretly trying to evangelize to you. Feel free to respond openly and honestly.

I would like to clarify misconceptions surrounding this concept.
First let us look at what Muslims say:

Personal Jihad: The most excellent jihad is that of the soul....

Verbal Jihad: On another occasion, the Prophet said, "The most excellent jihad is the speaking of truth in the face of a tyrant." He encouraged raising one's voice in the name of Allah on behalf of justice.

Physical Jihad: This is combat waged in defense of Muslims against oppression and transgression by the enemies of Allah, Islam and Muslims. We are commanded by Allah to lead peaceful lives and not transgress against anyone, but also to defend ourselves against oppression by "fighting against those who fight against us." This "jihad with the hand" is the aspect of jihad that has been so profoundly misunderstood in today's world.

Now, would you rather listen to peaceful Muslims or...

terrorists?

I am a confirmed Catholic, but sometimes, i just get this feeling that God isn't real. That it doesn't make sense, that the whole idea of heaven is impossible? Does this mean that I am not a Catholic? I tried telling my mom this once, and she just said "How do you think you got here?" I didn't respond, but in my head i was thinking "Big Bang. Evolution. Survival of the fittest." doesn't that make more sense? my mom still makes me go to Church, and i listen, but i have doubts. What does all this mean? Can i really call myself a Catholic? I believe in God during certain times but not during others. If I am not a true Catholic anymore, how can I explain this to my mother, who is very religious?

There are a lot of Christians that believe that Adam and Eve were real. So after how many generations would it take to say that people were not inbreeding anymore? Is this story justifying incest? Does your imaginary god believe in incest? If that story were real, humans would have a small gene pool wouldn't they.

Was it-
1) The seeming lack of provable information?
2) The different confusing doctrines?
3) The unanswerable questions?
4) The attitudes of Christian/Athiest people toward your veiw?

Add whatever other answers you have! I'd love to hear your responses!

By the way, I'm Christian. Saying that doesn't mean that I'm judging your choice to be what you are, and it doesn't mean that I won't respect your answer(unless it's reaaallly dumb. lol, j/k!) I only wish that both sides could agreeably disagree without using such illogical name-calling and disrespectful attitudes. Anyway, thanks for your answers!

The Lord calls some to the ministry, some to be Apostles, some Prophets, some Evangelists, some Pastors & some Teachers.

What title is the Pope under in the 5 fold ministries of the Lord?

.My version of the meaning of life is to make it as wonderful and beautiful as possible to see a child light up and smile to see the sunset over the ocean and to make it your mission to make everyones day. and then to die knowing you made someone happy and ready to help someone else. that's the point of living (according to me) What's yours(fill free to email me)

I once had a lengthy discussion with my brother in law about the existence/non-existence of god.

He insisted that he believed in god because of logic rather than faith.

After some 6 hours of debate, slowly dissecting the layers of his reasoning, he finally admitted that the seed of his reasoning was faith after all and not logic at all. He therefore was forced to admit that ultimately, his whole arguement was based on faith.

I know it seems like a long discussion over something that many may consider a minor point, but to both of us it was important, as I think such fundamental points should be.

It's important to be able to seperate what people arrive at through logical reasoning from ideas based on faith.

How many christians make the same mistake as my brother in law?

I don't see the point in having the pope anymore. The Pope as far as I know is suppose to be like Jesus but then why is he so rich?? Didn't Jesus say that like the one who has the more treasures will recieve the least amount in heaven compared to someone who has none?? Then why is the pope acting like a stupid celebrity and swimming in riches and stuff?? Is there anyone who aggrees with me?? I would like to know other people's opinions please. And please don't give me crap cause I have things against the pope. Thanx! ♥

I am looking for some good books to purchase to read about Buddhism. I don't have a lot of money, so I am looking for quality books that are worth reading more than once. I am open minded, but tend to gravitate towards Theravada Buddhism, believing in karma, that the Buddha was only a man that taught the way to enlightenment, and then died. I do not believe he became anything like a god or saint after he died, he just returned to the source of his beginning. I also don't care too much for Zen, zazen and koans are too abstract, and Mahayana Buddhism seems to have entered the forbidden realm of gods and spirits again. But that being said, I do have an open mind and am willing to read what comes highly recommended. Thanks.

I keep seeing comments that claim evolution is a lie / doesn't make sense / monkeys / just a theory - and they almost invariably come from american christians.

What is it about that particular country and that particular religion? Except for it the western world accepts evolution as much as gravity. Are there any other pockets of science rejection?

Great Spirit
I ask that your love touches the hearts of all those tonight
that whether they know where that love comes from , or what name they associate with that love
that it will be felt all the same
that those looking for peace will find peace
that those looking for hope will find hope
that those looking for happiness will find happiness
I ask also that those who seek to be a candle for others , will shine so bright that they light up the hearts of others who cross their path
that with this light , they may cause ripples in this world
that those ripples will be felt from a great distance
I ask this in your name
which is love
Amen

oh best ask a question lol
does it matter which name we pray in ?
does love cover them all ?

...who cause so much harm to the religion, have such an important contribution to the high number of non-believers, and are generally speaking such inconsistent persons?

No matter how hard it tries to do "revolutions" (Luther, eg), Christianity still ends up under the rule of some rich and selfish and unchristian (in behaviour) boss (or bosses).

(I am sure this phenomenon takes place in other religions as well, but I just know much more about the history of Christianity than about any other religion)
