What I mean is... do you think you could become a theist or deist if presented with credible evidence? Do you think sufficient evidence exists and can be known? Do you think the concept is logically impossible and therefore could never be "proven" or "evidenced"?

Or.......... am I way off and you feel completely different? If so, feel free to let me know.

P.S. For anyone who doesn't know who me (yes, this is for the n00bs), I'm an atheist. I'm not a Christian who's secretly trying to evangelize to you. Feel free to respond openly and honestly.

It could never be proven because a perfect supreme deity is logically impossible.

I am an Agnostic with respect to God. I feel that the overwhelming beauty of the natural world is evidence for a supreme being, however, I see the horrors that go on in the world today and I become doubtful. Maybe God does not have control of his existence, or maybe he just doesn't exist at all. I just don't know. This is the one thing I just cannot make up my mind on, and it is killing me. We all have the ability to feel emotion, appreciate beauty, and have knowledge. These are truly amazing, and I really appreciate having them. But did God give them to me? I don't think so. I think it just happened. But, on the other hand, there has to be something more to love, beauty, wisdom, etc.. Is it God? Or is it something else? Maybe a non-supreme being. Some force or energy that is not intelligent but has its own nature?

I consider myself an Atheist with an open mind. I would love for someone to produce solid evidence. It would be great to think this mess was part of a wondrous plan. Unfortunately words written in book by humans won't cut it, especially when they contradict themselves every few sentences. Neither will something that someone believes. It would have to be evidence that would stand up in court.

I will admit that I don't listen to most argument because they start off with some flawed assumption but if someone can make sense I would love to hear them.

My problems is I don't believe and I can't pretend I do... And honestly, I thing a lot of Christians are pretending, they certainly aren't living the life they preach about.

Good day.

Considering that claims are made by those who believe their gods are real that they interact with the natural world in certain ways its absolutely possible to prove god.

Take prayer for example. If one believes that prayer actually has an effect let's say on the health of patients that are prayed for, this is a very simple test to do. Not only this, but it has been done, and it has shown that prayer has no effect on patients any greater than random chance.

Theists do not want to accept this. They have gotten very good at selectively accepting evidence that supports their worldview and ignoring everything else.

No, gods existence cannot be pr oven, not in my estimation, because he would have to exist, and then a Deity, such as Jesus would have to re-appear, and perform the miracles that he is credited with doing, and some would still dis believe, illusionists can do so many things that are difficult to explain, it would have to be something that cant be said was an illusion, such as the twin towers completely restored and all those lost back from the dead, that could not be an illusion. thats what it would take for me to believe, or the priests that have molested children, be struck dead and the children be restored to the innocence they once enjoyed, which is also in my opinion entirely to much to wish for.

I am agnostic because I doubt that God exists; in addition, I also doubt that any proof could be presented to alter that opinion. What could occur that would prove beyond doubt that a creative deity exists? Some unquestionable supernatural event would need to transpire, such as the Rapture which evangelicals are awaiting, to convince me; if suddenly all of the devout Christians who were eligible for salvation (including members of my own family) were to disappear for no apparent reason, I would tend to reconsider my skepticism! I would likewise be persuaded that UFOs are real should they present us with undeniable physical evidence. I have to see it to believe it!

There was a Star Trek: TNG show where a team of scientists were studying a human-type culture that was in the bows and arrows stage of technology through a really cool holographic blind. Somethein went wrong and the study-ees were suddenly presented with the presence of the study-ers and their vastly superior technology. The study-er faction (I think it was Dr. Crusher) had to supress the new religion that suddenly popped up. She said to the head female with a bow to image what her ancient ancestors would think of her if she took her bow and her fire back in time. To them, she would be a god.

So, even if a godling did show up with all of these godly miracles that defy the laws of the universe as we know it, I'd be thinking is it godliness or tech? A doubter by nature, I'd err on the side of it's tech, they're probably too good to be true, and what do they want? Maybe I'm too immersed in pop culture, yeah?

Yes I think it's possible, if someone or something came up to me and was able to perform "miracles", ex. If something could make the moon turn into a big block of cheese or turn the sun on and off at will I would have to conclude that that person was god or had powers that made them indistinguishable from a god.

I don't see how you could conclude that it's logically impossible to have proof that a god might exist.

Actually, sure. Something as simple as a verifiable miracle would make me think twice about the possibility (and I'm not talking about the grandma's neighbor's cousin's friend who had cancer type thing.) I made such a bet with my brother (a devout Christian who is very concerned about my eternal soul) as a matter of fact. If God regrows a single limb, given substantiation of all relevant facts of course, I will become a Christian again. Otherwise, it's atheist all the way!

i like all your statements: coherent, smart, and rational. i think of i could have been in that comparable zone previously i develop into called to be a follower of Jesus Christ. in case you have no longer have been on condition that 'call', and that's in simple terms like a 'call', you won't have the ability to make it take place. And for us the two, we've been led like 'iron filings' to the magnetic source. by fact that then, of course, evidence for us is extensive. yet surprisingly adequate, it is not going to be the evidence. Jesus stated that Himself. i'm grateful i develop into raised in a 0 domicile religiously, no longer one way, no longer any incorrect way...boring honestly, yet lots greater helpful than being browbeaten, or lots greater helpful than hatred for all issues non secular. Wow, what a blessing to be in the 0 zone. permit me ask you one question, nonetheless. Do you ever sense you have non secular emotions? Like perchance vibes approximately something? Oh, you notice a set of human beings, and that's 'get outa here', or you notice a rally and that's 'that's exciting' feeling? Or do you reject all those as being very own and beside the point? in simple terms questioning. something to think of approximately per risk. those 'intuitions' for want of a greater helpful observe have truly helped me in my existence. Jesus stated 'watch' and this observe means like the watchman in the tower watched, and that's something I should not be lax approximately. i'm happy in my ideals (and that's subsidized here) that i'm to take part. Sorry that's long here.

Well, I don't honestly believe that there's any way for anyone to ever prove that God exists. It all comes down to faith. If you have to look for evidence to believe in God, then you don't actually believe in God. Just that fact that someone would ask for proof of God shows that they don't really believe in him. The only way to ever know whether or not he's real is to die.

*Is an atheist btw*
