Just wondering if in your religion if you don't believe in anything in the new testement or only that Jesus is not the son of god? If so what would makes you believe in the old testement but not the new? This would meen that the people who wrote the new testement were lying. I was asked by one of the youth group member in my church here in Japan if it is a sin if he will shower nude together with his teammates in baseball.

Since showering nude with others is basically not part of my culture, I'm afraid that I will give him a "culture-based" answer and not a "bible-based" one.

The only thing that I can find in the bible is when Noah cursed one of his sons because that son of his (I forgot his name) looked at his nudity.

Many people have answered question about evolution on here with something like “it is not possible, the bible says that god created all things. This proves that evolution can not be true.”

However I find a flaw in this line of reasoning. Lets take an example of the lady of the household baking a cake. There are three ways that this event could be represented.

1.The Method. This is an exact list of ingredients and sequence of events detailing the construction of a cake. I.E. Take 3 eggs, mix into 400 grams of flour until well combined , etc.
2.The Event Outline. This is a rough idea of the ingredients and events leading to the construction of a cake. I.E. Mix a few eggs into some flour. Add some sugar and other tasties and bake for a while.
3.The Story Device. This is a device used in stories and descriptions to convey that an event has occurred. I.E. The lady of the house baked a choc chip cake and served it to her guests.

When the creation account is read it seems to fall into the confines of the Story device if not no the borderline of Event Outline/Story Device. What this means is that the bible does not say how good created all thing it merely says that he did. Which leaves open the question of how did he do it?

Since there is no apparent conflict in the Genesis account why is the theory so rejected if not reviled by so many?


Please note I am not disputing the Genesis account but am asking why so many see it in direct conflict with evolution.

In regard to the 144,000 and "other sheep" teaching: As I understand it, the 144,000 heavenly places were being filled from the day of Pentecost onwards, right ? Is there anything in the writings of the 2nd century church "fathers" or in church history PRIOR to the establishment of the Watchtower society, to indicate that this doctrine was understood & taught among Christians ? If not, why ?

PS I'm aware of the WT teaching on the 144,000. I am interested only in learning of any evidence that might exist to show that this teaching is not just a recent invention by the WT. So - please - no lengthy explanations of the teaching. Only what is relevant to the question.

that they would be willing to die for or in place of their children. Thats a noble thing and I agree. God calls ALL PEOPLE HIS CHILDREN. Believers AND non-belivers, for all time, are called and He considers, His children. Why is it when God, via Jesus did exactly that, died for us, that people mock and reject Him? He died in our place to win our salvation but He is ridiculed and rejected because of it. Why? That's the very thing people say they respect the most and would do for their children. Whey do people honor other people when they say they would do such a thing, but not honor God for it? God didn't just say it, He DID it! Read John 3:16. What does it say? Read the accounts of Jesus life, death, resurrection

in the New Testament. What, why did Jesus do what He did? He was/is God. Holy, sinless etc. He gives up His stature, is tortured,sacrifices His life for us, but some don't accept or honor Him for it .Why? He did the best thing for us but some don't appreciate it-Why?

Why is it that in many, many families, ((it happened to me with my mother)) are gay kids being punished, running away, crying their eyes out, even killing themselves, because their parents are going ballistic because they're gay?

If it was all a conscious, chosen act, do you really think that a 16 year old kid would go so far as to commit suicide, just to be rebellious?

And what about the people like me? I, for one, am bisexual, and proud of it.

I do not feel this 'wrongness' deep inside my heart when i kiss or sleep with one of my gender, nor do i feel it with one of the opposite.

I know a straight-up nothing-else lesbian, she feels no remorse, or wrongness, in her choice of lover.

rather, when she was little, she always thought it was 'gross' when boys and girls kissed, and only when she heard about gays, did she realize that she was gay, too.

I think this means that our lives are all recorded, to every fine detail. and because we will be all present that we will will all know of each others personal life. what do you or think about this, and that lying to our friends and partners is futile I think because they will find out one day. what do you think, pretty humbling I think!
