I was asked by one of the youth group member in my church here in Japan if it is a sin if he will shower nude together with his teammates in baseball.

Since showering nude with others is basically not part of my culture, I'm afraid that I will give him a "culture-based" answer and not a "bible-based" one.

The only thing that I can find in the bible is when Noah cursed one of his sons because that son of his (I forgot his name) looked at his nudity.

Thank you very much for your answers.

Let me clarify one thing, what I said is that this particular thing is not accepted "CULTURALLY" in my country. I did not say that religion prohibits it, in fact I am implying that I do not know if this is accepted or not as far as religion is concerned.

I feel classifying acts as a sin or virtue is a cumbersome task; everything depends on the motive. If I paint lines on the road to help people park, it would be nice. If I paint the same lines to make someone trip over the wet paint, it would be a different story. Same act and different motives; INTENT is the important thing.
If folks are showering together because they have no choice, are in a hurry etc. why would there be any harm in it? If they are doing it for sexual reasons, then from a religious perpective it would be a sin.
Cheers.

They didn't have communal showers when the Bible was written so how would they know? Do you really think that gods, if they exist, are going to be concerned about team mates showering together? I am sure they have better things to worry about with 6 billion people on the planet and our planet just one of thousands of billions of planets in the Universe.

Culture is not easy to change. Neither is religious dogma that gets deeply embedded into the psyche of the human mind, or traditions.

Of course, I don't believe in sin. If I did believe in such a concept I would have to say that being ashamed of your naked body is a sin. We should be free to express ourselves without harm to ourselves and others regardless of what society thinks is right or wrong.

Of course it's not a sin. What harm does it do to anyone? Football teams take communal showers after the matches. It certainly doesn't mean they're having on orgy! There's nothing sexual in it, they're just washing the sweat off.

Well i am not a man of religion But i think that it depends on the age... Now if a mother wants to give her son a shower and they are 6 and 7 years old.. it is OK because they don't see nudity as adults .. like the Private Area it my thing etc... But if they are teenagers and the beginning of their armatures they will have questions and they will understand that there is privacy.

But what i want to ask..Does he/she intend to do it? and how does this question comes on his mind is he a gay or is she Lesbian?
.. personally speaking if i see another man with me in the shower i will feel discusting and i will leave the Shower Room come on he is a MAN i prefer to go home and shower alone !!!!

Everyone on the team needs to get clean quickly at the same time. Why should the cultural biases of Bronze Age Israelites dictate our bathing habits?

As long as it’s not more than two people. And as long as the other person is not the same sex. And as long as the other person is your spouse.

Therefore, if you are in the shower with five people, and they are all the same sex, and they all have sex with each other at the same time, then that would be a sin (according to the bible of course).

You're asking if it's a sin for athletes to shower up in the same locker room showers? I really hope you're joking.

That was old test. But still lets not get all legalistic. Legalism bits and it ways heavey on those who want to serve whole heartedly they'll be afraid to do anything. Been there done that. Its only a baseball team. They still are all brethern..

i hv never seen a baby borned fully clothed. have you?
so nudity is NOT a sin. our body is a creation of god!
if we admire and appreciate the beautiful form of another's nude body.... i dont see why that is a sin either...
so bathing nude with others is NOT a sin...
it is the LUST (sexual thoughts) and DISRECPECT (rape or sexual harassment) for others, that is the sin....
