The word "god" has remained unchanged in English for over a thousand years. It was the same word in Old English and is related to Old Norse and Old High German. It is a germanic word and is similar in all the germanic languages.
Other languages have their own words for gods. "deus" in Latin gives us the French "dieu" and the Spanish "dio" etc. Some languages have no words for gods as there are no gods in their cultures. Many Australian languages are like this.
In English, though, "god" is the correct full form of the word and has been for a very long time.

It means `Supreme Being` and comes through many languages to it`s present form, mainly middle english, but in Hebrew the terms `El Shaddai` and `adonai` were used instead of God.
