Well, no. I do not think that it is true. I think that it reflects what the Gnostics try to bring into the whole thing. They try to counter many things that were shown in the four Gospels, as if there was some kind of secret to be kept.
And then there is all the missing parts. So until someone can convince me, I remain against calling the Gospel of Judas any kind of authoritative book.

Their are a great deal of Appocrapha which have been found reciently such as the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Gospel of Judas. They were all known of in the early Church, but many where banned from general circulation until secular society had enough power independant from the Church to be able to bring back these pieces of information and judge for ourselves. I would like to read it for myself and form my own opinion on the book. How true it is is debateable, but additional information is always a good thing.

I'm only familiar with the Word of God. The so-called gospel of Judas doesn't count. I know there was a program I believe on the History channnel a while back. I watched a little of it, and got fed up.

Um, as far as I know, that gospel has not been completely translated, and much of it cannot be translated due to the severe damage to the codex. So.... how is there a book? Because if you could give me the name of a place where I can get a copy, I would like to read the translation.

Yes I think its true I think its more plausible to believe that Jesus asked Judas to betray him instead of the idea that Judas willfully done it as tradition suggests. To add further controversy to this. The idea that Judas betrayed Jesus is not even Biblical. It just states that Judas sold Jesus's location for 30 pieces of Silver by taking the authorities there to Jesus's location. The Bible doesn't even speak of Judas's intentions or why he did it. The Bible is not clear that Judas even killed himself. The stories are very contradictory where Judas is concerned. According to Jewish Mythology Judas didn't commit suicide cause God wouldn't let him die. His rope broke and he was damned for eternity to live with what he had done. There is a lot of stories out there about Judas. The devil made him do it just isn't one I believe in. Sorry Jesus had a set purpose on this earth. He PLANNED everything from his birth to death even Judas betraying him. Jesus had a script to follow and he followed it to the end. Judas was just another person doing what God asks of them to do. We don't like what God asks of us but we do it anyways out of blind obedience. Judas obeyed Christ blindly cause he understood the plan and why he was chosen. It had to be done and no body liked it, but everyone played their parts in the drama that was unfolding. Christians makes Judas look like a bad guy cause they believe what he did was wrong and unthinkable, but what you have to remember is that Christ did think it. Christ did plan it. Christ asked Judas to make a sacrifice for the salvation of mankind. Judas wasn't wrong. he was just being obedient to God to carry Christ's plan to the next level---The salvation of mankind. There was no evilness or vindictiveness behind it. Unfortunately, Judas couldn't face the other followers of Christ or himself cause he felt guilty and he tried to kill himself. I believe God saved him from himself and from his own guilt by making the tree branch break. Judas didn't do anything wrong. he just did as he was told to do so Jesus could fulfill the law. Poor Judas has been misinterpreted (like a lot of things) as the bad guy for 2,000 years, but hes the one that had courage to do what no other man could---betray Christ. No one else besides Judas could carry that out. Why? We may not really know why Christ choose Judas and not John or Paul. He just did cause he felt Judas was the only one that could carry the prophecy out. It was for all mankind. Judas shouldn't be looked on with hate for doing what his master asked of him.

I don't think it's recognised as a gospel or a chapter to be included in the bible.

The Bible says nothing should be added or taken away. I think it is best to stick with that, it tells us all we need to know anyway.
