Why is it that in many, many families, ((it happened to me with my mother)) are gay kids being punished, running away, crying their eyes out, even killing themselves, because their parents are going ballistic because they're gay?

If it was all a conscious, chosen act, do you really think that a 16 year old kid would go so far as to commit suicide, just to be rebellious?

And what about the people like me? I, for one, am bisexual, and proud of it.

I do not feel this 'wrongness' deep inside my heart when i kiss or sleep with one of my gender, nor do i feel it with one of the opposite.

I know a straight-up nothing-else lesbian, she feels no remorse, or wrongness, in her choice of lover.

rather, when she was little, she always thought it was 'gross' when boys and girls kissed, and only when she heard about gays, did she realize that she was gay, too.

/c/ in details..

She was raised in a catholic home, and was disowned, which cut her out of a lot of inheritance, a good school, a good college, and lost quite a lot of friends, because she tried and failed to 'give up her disgusting act'..

She ended up in therapy for the depression she got from being removed from her family.

Was it all an act, taken too far to prove a point, like most God followers claim?

I doubt it.

How can someone say they're lieing to themsleves, even married men, who secretely fantasize about leaving their wives for the arms of another man, and vice versa?

It isnt an act, and if it is, why do people 'hurt themsleves' so? And I'd prefer another answer besides pride or satan..

Oh and, by the way- i seriously doubt Homosexuality is a 'disease'.. Unlessproof is supported for that, please give me another reason..

I have no disease wihch makes me find seuxal attraction in the same gender's body..

After all, if that was a disease, everyone woh finds sexual arousal in anything but the opposite gender is diseased in one way or another, lol..

Its neither natural nor by choice. In simple term its an desease I mean psycological disorder. They have to be treated instead of punishment if they are too young

Lack of remorse doesn't justify the act. Name *any* act and you'll find plenty of people who claim to feel no guilt about its commission.

There *are* homosexuals who claim to be such by choice and there are others who insist they have no choice in the matter. Contrary to what another respondent said, the science is *against* the notion that homosexuality is genetically driven. At best, science suggests the genes may play a factor, but to what degree is unknown.

That is, however, beside the point. Clearly, the reproductive organs are designed for.....reproduction. And that, my friends, can only occur naturally via heterosexual relationships. Those ovaries are there for a reason. This is not a subjective observation, it is biology. Nature did not design men to have sex with men. Against this, it will be argued it occurs in nature, therefore, it is natural. This is an obvious nonsequitur. Bank robbery occurs in "nature" but that doesn't make it natural.

If being gay is a choice, then obviously it's superfluous to talk genetics. If the genes play a role, then clearly it is more appropriate to posit that genetic malfunction is causing unnatural behavior. We would not call this "normal" or "natural." Biologically speaking, it is more appropriate at this stage to hypothesize that there appears to be a genetic defect which causes homosexuality. If such is the case, then of course these people don't "choose" to be gay; but as the science now stands, neither is it correct to call the behavior normal.

Counterexample? Pedophilia also occurs in nature. There are adults who ARE NOT attracted to adults. They insist their desires lead them only to children. Are they BORN that way? I am not suggesting we make homosexuality a crime. I am only addressing the genetic argument. We would rightly say that pedophila is unnatural REGARDLESS its originating cause.

If you're interested in advancing civil rights for this group or that, by all means pursue your agenda, but let's not confuse science with that agenda.

I wish I had a good answer for this. From a religious standpoint I could only guess there is a difference between homosexuality and homosexuality perversion. Ya know like people just doing it for the sex not the relationship. I trust in Gods word so I have to say it is sin (take note..sin does not mean sick or disgusting only outside the will of God) I will pray that God gives me wisdom to preach with love and not condemnation on the subjest and I hope other Christians will do the same.

First, there are those who are convinced that the are homosexual simply because they are not attracted to the opposite sex. It's due to a lack of understanding of the asexual orientation. They are driven and/or repeatedly accused of being gay simply because they lack that attraction.

Consider how that must feel to a teen, not to feel that attraction, but being told that something if wrong with you and you must be gay. This is a particular problem in those with growth hormone deficiencies.
**********************************************

As for the sexual orientation of being Gay, just because one has the urges does not mean one has to act on the urges. There are many sexual orientations, including pedosexuals, and they are expected to control their urges, so it is possible.

You may not chose what you are, but you chose how you act on it.

God has promised to heal all those with birth abnormalities, or do you think that anyone born with a genetic abnormality was meant to be that way? Does that mean Pedosexuals were meant to be that way and that we are violating their rights?

The choice is whether one wants to give over their lives to their sexual urges or to what God urges? Heterosexuals are no less guilty in this, as many give into their urges by sleeping around and committing adultery. They face the same consequences for giving into their urges.

That pose of "being gay", including "the voice" is the world's biggest turn-off for me, mate; so perhaps you'd better try some other way to attract gay men. Some empty-headed little queans have swallowed all that hetero propaganda about their being half female, poor indoctrinated things, so they strike that girly pose and live a lie. In fact, the womanly men are the heteros: those broad hips, that rounded gut, the wobbly buttocks, the tented teats are not for gay men; we take better care of ourselves. As Plato pointed out in his “Symposium”: .Men who are a section of that double nature which was once called Androgynous are lovers of women; adulterers are generally of this breed, and also adulterous women who lust after men: the women who are a section of the woman do not care for men, but have female attachments; the female companions are of this sort. But they who are a section of the male follow the male, and while they are young, being slices of the original man, they hang about men and embrace them, and they are themselves the best of boys and youths, because they have the most manly nature. Some indeed assert that they are shameless, but this is not true; for they do not act thus from any want of shame, but because they are valiant and manly, and have a manly countenance, and they embrace that which is like them. And these when they grow up become our statesmen, and these only, which is a great proof of the truth of what I am saving. When they reach manhood they are lovers of youth, and are not naturally inclined to marry or beget children,-if at all, they do so only in obedience to the law; but they are satisfied if they may be allowed to live with one another unwedded; and such a nature is prone to love and ready to return love, always embracing that which is akin to him. And when one of them meets with his other half, the actual half of himself, whether he be a lover of youth or a lover of another sort, the pair are lost in an amazement of love and friendship and intimacy, and would not be out of the other's sight, as I may say, even for a moment: these are the people who pass their whole lives together; yet they could not explain what they desire of one another.

i'm bi too, only I'm Christian as well. What we have when we focus on the poor children that may have no idea what they are going through is culture pressures that help to kill the love of the family. I hate it.

The heart broken kid that knows he's different suffers from so much in this world. I hopw tht is being countered these days more than it was back when I was growing up. When a kid does not have his friends or his parents, he or she is truly heartbroken.

I really do not know but in many religions and cultures see this as differently as the difference between fruits. I may not be able to give answer that you may want but in a perspective from the bible I can give a quote that this may help. Form Romans 1:22-28 (ASV)

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves: 25 for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due.
28 And even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting; (American Standard Version)

You may not be a religious person or a Christian for that matter. But how I understand this passage is that because mankind decided to worship idols as god made in the image of things found in nature, as a "curse" he allow for the 'development' of the homosexual. Not that he loves Homosexuals any less just that because the sins of mankind Homosexuals are a punishment. Homosexuality is a natural occurring phenomena because of the unnatural practices of mankind.

Just want to say i'm not the greatest writer so there may be some flow issues.

May seem off topic, but the way you wrote your post. I'm in college for chemical engineering, math and science type of field and i generally can't stand the liberal arts people. They seem like they are from a different world and value things i find to be dumb.

But i think thats sorta an issue with the parents. They can't even beging to grasp whats going on in their kids mind. Their way of thinking and the things they value. Most people can't accept others think differently. If they do'nt think like you..they must be wrong.

For instance
"How can someone say they're lieing to themsleves, even married men, who secretely fantasize about leaving their wives for the arms of another man, and vice versa?"

I"m straight, but would never even think that about a woman. One day when i have kids, if they came up to me with an issue like that...male or female....i'd probably just smack them and tell them not to be dumb.

You were talking about suicide, not trying to make a joke about it...but just to point out i can never truly get what you're talking about...in a deep sense....those things don't click wtih me....and its like that i think for many people.

Its against my religion to date period..so while under my parents domain....i had no girl friends.... I had my crushes, knew girls that liked me that i woudl'nt have minded being with....most of my friends had someone....just never fazed me in the end. Knew there was nothing i could do. I ge tsome people are different and what i can do...others can't, but people will still think like that. "I did it, why can't you"

I think parents do need to set an example for their children, and they will be biased in it....but i think its better than them just letting their kids do whatever they want.

Anyways i do think its sorta dumb in the end. I'm against homosexuality, but...umm...not active against it. I guess the best way to explain it is i'm against premarital sex, but some of my best friends are certified whores. As long as it doesn't hurt me, i don't care what others do.

Personally...don't really expect you to agree with me, i think homosexuality is a weakness one must overcome. Everyoen has their weakness. Some have drugs, some have sex in general....some may have violent tendancies....a bad mouth....etc.

I agree with you in principal and understand where you are going. But, yes, as sixteen year old is easily dumb enough to commit suicide for the sake of their rebellion. Suicide has often been inspired silly things. Look at what happened when "the sorrows on young werther" was published. Look at goth and emo people.
I'm on your side in spirit. Come up with a better argument.

Christopher Isherwood said that his homosexuality was a personal choice of lifestyle, not hereditary or environmentally produced.

But his is only one voice and he could have been wrong.

You gotta wonder.

My boss is a lesbian and her mother hasn't exactly disowned her but she doesn't talk to her anymore. What's worse, my boss's daughter is also gay and her grandmother has pretty much cut her out of her life because of it.

It's crazy and damaging.
