I recently got an interest into studying religion, and I am doing what most people who study would do. Try to do RESEARCH. I watched on the history channel a show called "banned from the bible" These were so called parts "left out" of the bible. If I want to learn all I can, how do I follow One book, if it isnt finished and chapters are missing?

What I mean is, there are many people in the US who pick and choose passages of the bible to defend their point of view....the say this is not right because the bible says its not right.....but the bible also says things like if a child disrespects at mom or dad then they are to be stoned or put to dealth.....and that we are allowed to have slaves if after so many years we free them.....WHy do so many people take some things to heart and not others....many people take the bible as literal text, but those same people would never even think about stoning or killing their child? The bible contridicts itself so much.....why are some parts to be taken literal and not others?

How come God hasn't come down and struck NASA for trying to do the same thing? We've gone up a whole lot higher than those people did.

How can people believe in the bible and dinosaurs? One, dinosaurs aren't mentioned in the bible, simply large beast and Two, there is visible proof that dinosaurs exsisted. Someone help me out. Oh and please don't say "because" or " If you believe in god, then stop asking questions" or anything like that, 'cause truthfully, no I don't believe in god.

Genesis 4:16
And Cain went out from te presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, in the East of Eden 17 And Cain knew his wife; (some how these two got married but the marrige is not listed in the Bible) and she conceived and bare Enoch: and he built a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

The above verse tells us that there is a wife for Cain. Mysteriously, for some reason the name of his wife, is hidden. There are two assumptions which can be brought to the tabel. Since there were no other humans beside Adam, and Eve, Cain married his mother.

Or Cain found a women in a different location, that had no relation to him whatsoever.
And God just didn't mentions his other human creations.
Which one is it?

God is forgiving. He forgives even the deadliest sinners. In that case, why do people go to hell?

Because they don't believe in God? But what if that person just didn't know any better? Or what if that person DID believe in God but still did horrible things?

When I asked this at my bible camp, they told me that in Hell, people lock the doors from the inside so God can't get in. That doesn't make much sense to me. Who would like to rot in hell when they can go to Heaven by being forgiven?

10 points to the most reasonable answer.

I am gay, I am agnostic, I shave on Saturday mornings and I step in to a Red Lobster every Sunday night.
Does that mean that I am a multiple sinner?

What type of ambassador are you for your "one true religion"? Don't you think people pay attention to your actions?

I'm just a heathen kaffir. This behavior is normal for me.

Jesus calls God, our God. Revelation 3:2,12 Jesus calls the Father, 'my God' 4 times. So Jesus worships the Father and Jesus has a new name.

Genesis 4:2
And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit (vegetation)of the ground an offering unto the lord. 4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and his offering.
Adam and Eve have two sons. Cain offers vegetation unto the Lord, and Abel offers aniamals.
Genesis 1:29
And God said, behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which upon the face of all the earth and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed, to you it shall be for meat.

God cleary says that animals should not be killed, in the old testement. So why would Abel the sacrifer of animals get more recognition then Cain.
