They're not

How come you believe a load of unsubstantiated unprovable nonsense in an ancient book yet are not prepared to believe the evidence given to you by people clever enough to split the atom?

The Bible doesn't prove anything, least of all the existence of God, and is patently wrong, inaccurate and contradictory. Science requires that any theory or law is backed by ALL the available evidence - there is no option to pick and choose which bits we believe and which bits we can conveniently ignore or gloss over. Creationism, resurrection, miracles and God himself have no proof outside the bible and the bible proves nothing... anyone can write a book about anything and it doesn't make it any more real. J. K. Rowling writes about wizards in the Harry Potter books but it doesn't make them any more real.

Bible = fantasy
Splitting the atom = reality

I really do not see that science and religion are opposed. Einstein was deeply religious, and was sometimes convinced he was a Jewish saint. The most spiritual and open minded person I ever met was a rocket scientist. Governments the C.I.A and the police force hire psychics and mediums, and people who use telepathy. Some scientists have concurred and believe there to be what they call a 'Godspot' in everyone that people need to connect to to have some meaning, and satisfaction in their life, a sense of well being and peace. Hey what could be wrong with that idea, whether you call it God, Goddess or Godspot. Why the need for opposition always. Can we all be a peace with each others uniqueness.

Because the bible is the science of the heart which some scientists undoubtably are graced with but many are more into the head and understanding stuff. The content of the bible is not to be over questioned but believed. Not saying it is not to be questioned at all. That would be silly. It must be questioned the right way with a heart seeking to become closer to God and not one who wants to understand everything for himself.

You will find that there are loads of things that have been written in the bible that have also been proven as true by science. I think that you should read the New Scientist a little more as there are often articles written by scientists that related to the bible & scientific discoveries.

You must not be very familiar with the bible or science to make such an absurd statement. There is no firmament supporting the stars, the moon does not cast it's own light, the earth is round not flat, the earth revolves around the sun (not the other way around). The bible also makes references to giants, unicorns and dragons.

Do you really believe sick people are oppressed by the devil? That epilepsy is caused by demon's? That people who cannot speak are possessed?

That and many more absurdities are found in the bible.

Not all scientists. There are those that are objective and are willing to admit to the evidence that backs the Bible.

Just because someone works in the scientific field doesn't mean the they have a scientific heart. Most of the athiest scientists are as religious about their belief of no God as Christian and Jews are about thier faith in God, which means that they are not past only recognizing what they see as evidence that backs their beliefs.

Others of them have a reputation to protect and, to admit that what they have published in the past may need some serious adjustments, considering newer evidence, would be a crippling blow to that reputation and the money coming in based on it.

Which scientists and what are they saying about the bible? Do you think all scientists are atheists or something? They aren't all atheists (most are). And the bible is a bunch of crap. Who you going to believe, some joker who can't pronounce the word N-U-C-L-E-A-R or someone who can split an atom?

technology incorrect? no longer the shown data. Farien 3 states believers are actually not threatened by affliction of the splitting of the atom. i assume then they're proof against maximum cancers and coronary heart affliction and each little thing else and can't be annihilated from an atomic blast.

The difference between right & wrong is a matter of perspective. You think they are wrong because they challenge the basis for your beliefs and without it you are nothing.

If someone challenged one of my strongly held beliefs I may be inclined to think they were wrong at first as well.... at least until they provided me with proof that what they are saying was true.

As far as the bible goes..... what proof do you have to verify its credibility? (ASIDE from the fact that the bible exists. Simple existance does not prove that everything within that book is true. Green eggs & ham is a book that is in existance, but that doesn't mean sam I am is a real person who died for our sins so we could eat green eggs & ham)
