No, I don't want "we shouldn't give them either one" answers. If you're not planning on answering the question then don't respond at all.

I'm asking about one or the other, people. If you don't support either one, OBVIOUSLY THIS QUESTION WASN'T FOR YOU. Why bother answering when I specifically asked you not to? It's like people can't comprehend a simple request.

Marriage. There is no reason for anyone in the US to be a second class citizen.

Those who find same sex marriages to be against their religions (which is their right) should simply not partake of same sex marriage. To ban it for all because of your beliefs is simply wrong.

Same sex marriage should be allowed. The ranting from religious groups that they destroy the family haven't worried about tearing families apart by their members disowning their gay children. Plus you have companies who are terrified that they will have to pay benefits on all the new spouses.

I find it interesting that so many are worried about the huge surge of divorces which would be good for the legal business, but has little proof of happening.

The push for gay marriage is really a push to force people to learn to deal with difference. The religious biase shouldn't dictate what laws are enacted or repealed, because they are not supposed to have a say... separation of church and state don't you know.

Homosexuality is a reality, it is part of the everyday life and people should be taught that saying no whether to a man or a woman is alright and that anything pushed is rape. I have often wondered why men have such a hard time with this concept, but you often see men date rape and use the excuse that the woman didn't mean no when she said it. Sorry but no is no no matter who or what or how it is stated. Men and women who are approached the same sex person and asked to participate should have no qualms about saying no and then thanking the person for thinking they are attractive. But I think that men are so resistant to this idea because they fear that their gay counterparts will push them too far, just like they push their dates.

I feel - not believe, that a civil union is just that - A union. I totally support same sex marriage should the parties involved choose it.

Marriage allows the partners more resources and legal rights for those involved.

Civil ceremonies although wonderful and beautiful does not allow the same rights and privileges and the States and Government choose not to recognize or acknowledge them.

It is totally up to the parties involved as to whether or not they choose for a legal marriage that binds them together under the law or a civil ceremony that binds them by the heart.
It is their choice and I support their choice.
I do not feel that it is right that they are not allowed the chance to choose.

I myself am in a loving committed union with my life-partner and it is our choice not to marry. We do not need a piece of paper or a license to say that we are together forever it is our hearts. But we have the choice. It is unfair that not everyone is allowed the choice.

Simple-minded Conservatives are to afraid of change and prefer that everything stays the way it is. Without change there is no growth and without growth we die.

Abortion is legal and it is a woman's right to choose, Why then can we not open our hearts and minds to support those who which to marry?

I am not Gay/Lesbian but I support the rights of ALL not just the few!

Same sex marriage, but a civil union is fine by me. Marriage is a gift from God, the only interest the state may have in it would be for tax and/or inheritance purposes. If you have taken a spouse before the Lord, you don’t need a piece of paper to tell you it is right and good.

I agree with the first guy. It should be civil unions. Everyone's, not just same-sex couples. Marriage has too many religious connections. It wouldn't make sense to put the word marriage with same-sex, it contradicts itself. As long as civil unions allow the couples the same rights as married couples, then it should be unions.

I think commitment unions, requiring a licence the same as hetero marriage is the way it should be. I think it should afford all the legal ramifications as a hetero marriage. I just believe that is the name of what the union is, Civil Union, no restrictions of benefits or andother issues, and requiring legal divorce to disolve the union.

I believe it should not be called marriage, it is a union of two persons of the same sex who will not procreate. I believe the union that produces offspring is the type of union has ownership of the term marriage.

I think all "marriages" should be civil unions, same sex couples, polyamorous groups, "regular" M/F couples.

You should get a Registration of Union from the state and undertake whatever religious ceremonies within your spiritual community that seem appropriate to you. These should have no legal force.

Personally it could be termed marriage I wouldn't care about the term used. What would be more important in my mind is do they have the same rights as anyone else?

I think that to say homosexuals don't deserve the same rights as this Christians is no different then saying women don't deserve the same rights as men. Or black people don't deserve the same rights as white. Prejudice is prejudice no matter what monkey suit you try and put it in.

Everyone regardless of sexual preference, race, religion, gender, or any other man made label deserves to have the same rights and be held to obey the same laws as everyone else!

same sex marriage... why should someone not be able to marry the person they love, if they are ready for that commitment, just like everyone else? If people's answer to why not is because the bible says its wrong... the bible is full of stories told and reinterpreted hundreds of years ago... modern day society cannot be based on it.. you think we should follow what the bible says... what about exodus 21:20-21? "if a man takes a stick and beats his slave [...] But if the slave does not die for a day or two, the master is not to be punished. The loss of his [the MASTER'S] property is punishment enough" we still suppose to follow that ****? i think not...

I would support civil unions, because while I believe "marriage" is ordained of God between a man or woman, I have no problem with people having tax benifits, or visiting rights that want them. I just figure if I'm an old widow someday that has another old widow for a roommate, it would be good to be able to visit her in the hospital, even if we weren't family.
