I mean, it seems like you don't get it that just because other people believe differently doesn't mean it's the devil working in us.

Do you realize how angry that makes people?

And for heavens sake, what is more important- spreading Jesus' way- love, pacifism, non-discrimination, and peace, or the threat of hell?

I asked a sincere question about how I could get along with you better, and how I could just get you to understand that I don't believe and still have you show respect for me.

But it doesn't seem like that's possible.

I don't like lying to people. I had to do this assignment where I meditate for 15 minutes every night and record my experience.
The thing is, now I am supposed to write a paper about my experience and I don't know what to do because some really freaky things happened while I was meditating! I think the goal of this assignment was to show the class how meditation can be beneficial to your health, but I slipped very deep into a dissociative state on two of the nights that I meditated and had almost a "religious" experience. I don't want to lie about it, but I am afraid my teacher will think I am a weirdo and that I am making this all up!The one night I did it with my eyes open and I saw a sparkly patch on some clothes and then my body appeared to vanish and I felt as if I wasn't going to exist. A few nights later I felt disconnected from my body and completely euphoric; it was as if I was being transported somewhere and that somebody wanted to show me something.

What should I do?

I believe there is a god, but I do not worship it or support any religion. I just want to know what is so good about god, particularly if any muslim people could answer this question. So what if it created the earth and humans? The earth would be so much better off without humans anyway. I can honestly say i have no respect for god, because i have no reason to. Everything would be so much better off without gods stupid interaction with everything.

Ok, so on YOUTUBE I found a video documentary done by the British, about Westboro Baptist Church. For those of you who dont know them by name, they are the church who pickets at soldiers funerals, and website is godhatesfags.com. Obviously, not very loving.

Now, this is coming from someone who's church is normally viewed in the same light as this one is... Hateful, bigoted, unloving, ect. We are the same denomination as WBC, Independant, fundemental, baptist. Although they are calvinists, and we are not. We believe God knows who will and will not be saved due to his forknowledge, but does not CHOOSE someone to be saved over another person, we all have equal opprotunity to be saved. My church believes in women wearing skirts, traditional music, modesty, and women having meek and quiet spirits, especially when pertaining to church ministries. .....

To be continued below, havent gotten to my question yet!!

I get so angry at Christianity. I mean, it gives you guys this burden- you feel that we are going to hell and it's up to you to save us. I understand that, and I know many of you have good hearts and really believe that and want to help people like me.

But from my perspective, I will not become a Christian. I used to be one. I'm into naturistic stuff. I really feel strongly about not needing a book to know God. So when evangelicals try to get to me to read their book, I feel a mixture of a lot of emotions.

I feel sad that they feel they have this burden

I feel disrespected since they are a stranger trying to tell me my own belief isn't good enough for God, when I feel it is

I feel angry that the religion includes this intolerance (it does qualify as that, even if you have the best intentions)

I feel sad that me being me, on my spiritual quest, trying my best isn't good enough for the world

They often have excellent points, but you are so blinded by your dogma that you cannot see it-- on all sides, by the way.

Why?

Why does it seem that the atheists have a sence of humor and know what a joke is and how to take one? It seems that all the Christians here are so easily offended about everything. Lighten up a bit guys. Or am I wrong?

I have a sister in-law who is Catholic and will not participate in any family activities in other churches. We just had a Passover presentation and meal at my moms church wish is non denominational and my sister in-law refused to come. Is that typical? Would her priest or congregation of her church unapproved of such a thing? And if so why?

Ok I've noticed not too many people here in R&S have a sense of humor if its about their religion. When someone asks a question about religion, I try to give a humorous response. I like to make jokes about all religions including my own. Probably because I listen to Dennis Leary and watch South Park too much. But people need a sense of humor even if the joke is about their religion. Do you have this kind of sense of humor or do feel threatened by people like me?

Should people be telling others what god wants or wants you to do if you've read the bible? seems like you would be putting gods words into your own words if you tell others what god dislikes, wants or whatever else. If someone reads the bible it seems wrong for others to tell them how to interpret it if god speaks through the readers heart.

I find it funny when a Christian is faced with abortion, they automatically go into the "But babies are such wonderful, beautiful, living, breathing beings! They're so innocent! It's a sin to murder!" etc, etc.

However, when a Christian is faced with an unmarried woman who had unmarried sex and yet was blessed with one of these wonderful, beautiful, living, breathing beings, the unmarried woman gets shot down with such statements like "Oh you're going to be so sorry you had unmarried sex because it's a sin! Just wait until they grow up and you're struggling to make ends meet!" ... sounds a lot like a pro-choice statement to me.

Are sex and procreation only blessings when they're conceived under your and your Bible's terms and conditions, or is it just your and your Bible's hypocrisy?

It was a pretty ugly day for Him, after all. Also, why do Christians have ham for Easter dinner, after asking Jesus (a devout Jew) to join them!

Is Easter actually a celebration of irony?
