She disobeyed god

Haven't we all done something that was morally wrong or that we knew God would not want us to do. Shouldn't we all be pillars of salt then? Or are we not supposed to be forgiven for our sins as we are all human. I think the old saying goes "To err is human, To forgive Devine" But then again, what do I know?

Well, yes. She was instructed not to turn around and look, but oh! She turned around and looked back at the city! It was her own fault for not following serious instructions and letting curiosity get the best of her.

It was more than looking back that she disobediently did! She did not repent. Repenting is being sorry for and desiring to change your life., to get rid of the old nature and follow God. She, by looking back shows us she continued to long for her past sinful nature, not look forward and walk away from her past sinful nature. It's a message to us to turn from our old Adamic sinful nature and look forward to a new nature, a new creation that God makes us when we decide to make Him master of our lives.

Yes. Lot's wife looked back at the city and was devastated by the loss of all their possessions. This shows us that we shouldn't set our hearts on our material possessions, but to serve God whole-heartedly...without "looking back", so to speak.

I think that her turning to salt was meant as a lesson to women...that they must obey their husbands. One of those Old Testament parables. Y'know?

Yes, in fact I think several states are considering legislation that will require capital punishment for acts of curiosity.

Another classic example of the hatefulness of the God of the old testament.

Most definitely. The angel of the Lord told her don't look back but she was disobedient. Kind of like us, God has told us what to do in the Word of God (Bible) but we are disobedient. It is no wonder He does not destroy us. May God Bless U.

And why salt? And what happened to her after that? Did Lot carry her away and sell the salt? And what kind of name is Lot, anyway?

Yes. She disobeyed the angels who told all of them not to look back. But she wanted to return to the sinful city and God punished her.

Genesis 19:26 - But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Genesis 19:15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. 16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. 17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. 18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my LORD: 19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die: 20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. 21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken. 22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. 23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. 24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; 25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. 26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
