It is a fine line. As a Christian you have the spirit of God in you and therefore should be able to understand all scripture, and should be fine reading it on you own. Unfortunately, as the bible teaches, our flesh is not redeemed yet. It wants what it wants when it wants it. So you have a battle going on inside of you.
The apostle Paul speaks of it. So I must bounce what I have read off others and compare scripture to scripture or else I get into interpreting based on what my flesh and emotions want and not what God is trying to teach me.

It depends upon how that reader interprets the word of God. Some people take it out of the context. That is where the danger of interpreting the word of God yourself. You need to study it and not just interpret it. Even Satan used the scriptures to his advantage when he was tempting Jesus. This is why we should study it and not interpret it with ourselves. We need teachers of the word of God. When you already know how to study the word then you would be able to discern which teacher are telling you false teachings.

I believe you are correct.
Only YOU can interpret the Bible's words.
See, we all see things differently even if we are looking at the same picture , we have different views. If you read a poem and I read the same poem we will probably have different views. Don't take me wrong , there is no right or wrong way.
You find your own way to be closer to GOD. We all have our own way. I have my own way. GOD is everywhere and just by choosing to believe that there is a GOD, you are already closer to him. Even people that don't believe in GOD are close to him, because he is closer to us than our own breath !!!
Peace and Love your way, always .

God's words ARE in the Bible and in very clear language too...It tells you how to treat people, how to eat, how to pray, how to get the Holy Ghost, how to overcome demon possessing, how much to give back to God ($) and obeying his Word the Bible (basic instructions before leaving earth) is how you get closer to Him...If you speak from the heart and no one listens, God heard you and knows...He also has anointed men to preach and teach, we all have our specific gifts to contribute to helping the ones that don't understand...Its wrong to offend ( but again, only God is perfect) and we will offend someone, sometime...

You are basically correct. Pray as you read that God will let you know his will and that He will teach you what HE wants you to know, not necessarily what you want to know. However, do not dismiss other peoples' opinions immediately. The Bible can be interpreted different ways, so listen to other opinions and pray over it. God will show you the way if you give it time. He is just that good. :)

That's sweet, "God speaks through the readers heart" I like that.
I know that the pastors and priests and whoever else go to COLLEGE just to understand how to Interpret the bible. Which I gotta tell ya, they still get it wrong half the time lol.
At least my perception.
I think you have to follow your heart. It will never steer you wrong.

The only way to get closer to God, is first, accept the Lord as your Savior and keep true to him. After that if you want to get closer, read the Bible and Pray.
Never Underestimate Prayer

Remember the Ethiopian Eunich and Phillip?? There is a good lesson in that story. Everyone should verify anything another person tells them in the scriptures but councel is a good thing if it is lovingly provided and in harmony with what the Bible really says.

One should read the original bible (new testament) before king Constantine Misconstrued so many thing in it. It is called the Gospel of the Nazirenes if you are a sincere Christian check it out google gospelofthenazirenes.co You will be enlivened to see that Christ actually taught karma, reincarnation, vegetarianism, hell is a temporary place no one goes eternally. King Constantine took out all of this for his evil rule. It is the actual truth of Christ.
