Why does it seem that the atheists have a sence of humor and know what a joke is and how to take one? It seems that all the Christians here are so easily offended about everything. Lighten up a bit guys. Or am I wrong?

A lot of Christians are so desperate to tell you they are Christians that they miss the point of what it means to be. They love to judge others to prove to themselves they are better. God loves a good laugh, cause the human race is one big joke.

i've got in no way been insulted by potential of a Pagan, a Wiccan, a Buddhist, a Hindu, a Pantheist, a Greek Pantheonist, or all of us else. I in basic terms get informed i bypass to hell and that as a lesbian i'm an abomination and that i could be shot interior the pinnacle or killed some opposite direction, and different issues that are no longer in wonderful condition to form here; that's in basic terms Christians that i understand of that don't approve of homosexuality or Atheism, and the insults I acquire are in many cases accompanied by potential of settle for Jesus or burn in hell, so I doubt they got here from a Confucian.

To meas a christain your wrong, but you are right about most of the other christians. Athiests dont really believe in anything but the life thier in now. They ted to try to enjoy life so they can take jokes. Christians on the other hand believe that they are here for a purpose, not just ot mess around and have fun. That's why some Christians take things too seriously. But not all Christians are like that, my chruch would bore me to death if it wern't for all the jokes we crack aboutt each other. But we know when to be serious. Some of the jokes are aboutthings we take seriously, so we sometimes get insulted.

I don't know; I've seen humorless sods on both sides of the aisle.

Maybe if there was one lousy joke in the entire New Testament, there might be a different sensibility in Christianity. But no, the only figure in Christianity with anything resembling a sense of humor is Satan.

You are correct....and I am a Christian. Perhaps I can explain...

To us, our faith is a very serious thing. It is a very important part of our lives. It is more often than not the basis for how we live and in our hopes for the future. Therefore, it is no laughing matter. To make fun of our beliefs or of the God that we believe in is hurtful and discouraging and yes, sometimes we get angry or upset by it.

If someone made fun of who you are as a person, how would you feel? I mean really made fun of you..not just joking around. It has a lot to do with self esteem I guess. We too are guilty of pride.

Atheists don't have anything at stake in a religious debate, and can therefore joke and laugh about that which the religious folk can't.

What, you're going to tell me that the nonexistent god I don't worship is mean, inconsistent, or an insecure bastard? That's a punchline in and of itself.

Truthfully, the one inconvenient thing about being an atheist is that I have no deity to call on during sex anymore. Guess I'll just have to scream my husband's name instead...

I have to disagree with you. They only like when you put jokes about Christians, if you put a joke about them some will report you or get angry.

Maybe you're on here when the ones who are lightened up are on.

I do tend to be a bit thin-skinned, but I get enough "humor" watching Robot Chicken, Futurama, and Family Guy. Personally, I'd prefer respect over a few slaps on the knee. Though I fail miserably sometimes, I do my best to respect others' opinions, but my lack of patience gets the better of me sometimes and I lash out... It would be nice to see the same effort given by people of the opposite viewpoint.

WHAT???

I'M A PERFECT CHRISTIAN AND I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ASKED THIS QUESTION. WE'RE OFFENDED NOW I TELL YOU. I THINK YOU MIGHT HAVE TICKED GOD OFF TOO!

Yah, some Christians have a face so long they could suck porridge through a garden hose. But, maybe a few aren't like the stereotype. It's OK to try to take God seriously, but not yourself 'cause you ain't God!

You can't light up if you are being persecuted by people who thinks they are better than God. Their comments are a direct attack to what we believe in. Do you joke around if someone told you that your dad is nothing but a liar, murderer, stupid, or non existent? You don't just sit there and do nothing! Your first respond is to defend your father and prove that the other person is wrong. And if everything else failed, then a right hook will make everything right.

Beside, a lot of atheist get roused up when we post questions that they don't like. I even get hate mails from them. One of them even threatened to kill me and my family. At least a christian will not do that.
