I agree, it seems to me that any day that you get crucified would be a very f---ing BAD Friday.
I always thought so, even before I renounced Christianity. I think the philosophy is that they're not celebrating his death ("Good" Friday), they are celebrating his alleged resurrection (Easter.)
Good point about the ham, too. I prefer crab legs myself, but those are also a no-no for observant Jews.

This is the wrong interpretation of the Roman Catholic Church on the words written on the bible, but please do not say Christians, just say Catholics.
There is no such good Friday in the bible meaning it is not biblical but a doctrine of the catholics or teachings of the catholics.
The catholics say that Easter Sunday is a feast for them after having known that Jesus Christ have arose from the dead, but again not biblical, yet it is not Sunday when Jesus arose from the dead. Catholics have change the day when he rose from the dead.
We should not celebrate the day when he was nailed to the cross which caused his death from the hands of the Jews who did not believe that Jesus is the Son of God and if we will celebrate it, it means we favor the Jews of what they have done to Jesus. So that is wrong celebration.

I'm a Christian and I don't eat unclean meat including pork! Not all Christian eat pork.
Many will respond, "doesn’t the Bible say that Jesus was crucified and buried on Friday and that the tomb was empty on Sunday morning?" It is true that the tomb was already empty on Sunday morning, but the Bible nowhere speaks of a Friday crucifixion. It does say that He was crucified on the "preparation day" (Mark 15:42–45), but we must recognize which preparation day this was. Remember, the Bible speaks of annual Sabbaths—"Holy Days"—in addition to the weekly Sabbath (cf., Leviticus 23:4, 7, 24, 27–32). Jesus was crucified on the preparation day before an annual Sabbath, during the daylight portion of the Passover—Abib 14 on the Hebrew calendar. The following day—Abib 15—is an annual Holy Day, the first Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread
Passover fell on a Wednesday in 31ad, the year of Jesus’ crucifixion. Thursday was an annual Sabbath, the first Holy Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Jesus was buried just before sunset on Wednesday afternoon, and was in the tomb Wednesday night, Thursday, Thursday night, Friday, Friday night, and Saturday—three days and three nights, just as He promised. He was resurrected just before sunset on Saturday afternoon, exactly 72 hours after His burial. On Sunday morning, when the women came at dawn to embalm His body, He was already gone. They did not see the resurrection; they saw an empty tomb, and were told by an angel that He had risen just as He said He would.
Eastern is a Pagen holiday.
Christ gave the ordinance of baptism in honor of His death, burial, and resurrection. The Bible never suggests Easter in honor of the resurrection (or for any other reason, for that matter). We honor Christ by obeying Him (John 14:15)--not by substituting man-made requirements in place of His.

We call it Good Friday because, all that tragedy brought about the greatest good there could be.
Jesus' act of dying on the cross was "The Act" that opened the door between God and man. In fact, was the ONLY act that could! All of Jesus' miracles were great, His obedience to the Father wonderful, His casting out of demons amazing (and probably pretty relieving to the "castee"), and His resurrection glorious, (to say the least!), but it was by Jesus' death on the cross alone ~ His work of atonement ~ that we were enabled to enter into sweet relationship with the Father.
Oh and about the ham, Jesus declared that all meat was clean and we should enjoy it.

It was a fateful and ugly day for Jesus, but his death brought us mankind liberation from sin and shame. His sinless life and death purchased for us salvation. By believing in Him, we can have eternity with Him.
Jesus had asked Peter to eat kinds of meat, including unclean meat. It is not what one eat but the words and actions that one does that makes one unclean.
Many Christians do not eat ham for Easter.
One man's sorrow on the cross brought him joy and the whole world's joy. For God so loved the world that He gave...

Good Friday was good because all mankind was set free that day. And about the ham, that's one of the things from which Christ set us free........... the law that totally went against our nature. And all that happened because Jesus was killed. So, we are grateful. We can celebrate because we know His suffering was temporary and that He was resurrected and still to this day lives. So, our sorrow about His death is relieved. Peace.

According to Wikipedia, "Good" Friday probably originated as "God's" Friday. Jesus wasn't killed. He came to this planet as part of God's plan of salvation. He knew all along of how His life would end. He paid the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of all people.
Easter is a joyous holiday for Christians to celebrate. It means we have a wonderful life after death here on earth to look forward to.

As you suggested, "Oh My God! it truly is Easter! on the instant could be an extremely VERY specific social gathering! it truly is the day Jesus rose from the lifeless! yet anyhow, i think of it truly is "sturdy Friday" by using fact Jesus died for US! And if he did no longer die for us, properly, who's often occurring with of what our lives could be like."

To quote Joseph in the book of Genesis, "What man intended for evil, God used for good". What man intend to use to destroy Jesus, God turned around for the blessing and salvation of mankind. It is called Good Friday, not because the abuse given to Jesus was "good", but because God turned it around and brought good out of it.
And not all Christian eat ham for Easter....
