Why do Christians use the Cross when they believe that idol worship is against God? Why do Jews use the Star of David? I could go on for hours.

In the name of Allah the most Gracious the most Merciful
Thank you for giving us the chance to clear some misconceptions attached toIslam.
As far as Islam is concerned the Moon is a creation of Allah the almighty as a source of light and is used as a guide for
the lunar calender as the sun is used for the solar calender.
we do not worship the Moon nor is it an Islamic symbol .It
may be the symbol of some country like Pakistan who has
a half moon on its countrys Flag. And there are some mosques that have a half moon on its minaret only as a guide
for the muslims to recoginise a Masjid from afar but it is not
a symbol of Islam.

The moon does not represent God. It's just a modern symbol made up to represent the fact that we calculate the days and years according to the lunar calender (ie the moon and not the sun).
For instance, we know when we should start fasting by going back to the lunar calender and checking out when the month of Ramadan is gonna start, etc, etc.

The Crescent Moon on the flag is an historically significant emblem, but it isn't directly related to Islam. Originally, after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople, the flag left standing from the original inhabitants had the Crescent Moon on it. Prior to Muslim rule, Rome ruled Constantinople. The Crescent Moon was selected by the Roman conquerors after they overtook the Goths. That conquest took place on the first of the lunar month, so the Crescent Moon was placed on the flag to commemorate that triumph. The eventual Muslim conquerors of the Ottoman Empire favored the flag and adopted it as their own. To say that it represents Islam is incorrect, but to say that it represents people who are Islamic can be considered correct.

i do not think this symbol was elected by muslims but non muslims, the half moon and star and green are from the flag of pakistan. when indisa was seperated into 2 countries to seperate the muslims i presume that the english chose their flag as a sign of muslims. if anything the sign is the kalimah.

The Crescent Moon heralds the beginning of the new month and the new year. During the period of Islamic Empire, the crescent moon was adopted as a state emblem. It had nothing to do with religious beliefs. Today, Eagle is the popular state emblem in U.S.A. Does that emblem represent the religious beliefs of the citizens of U.S.A.?
I wear a cross not to worship it but as a reminder Of the death Jesus suffered for my sins.

It does not appear to be of any religious significance. I am told that it is not mentioned in the Qoran. Though used on the flag of many Muslim nations, it has no specific relevance to Islam.

The Islamic Calendar is based on the lunar cycle, that's why the symbol was chosen.
It has nothing to do with what you are insinuating...
God is visible to those He wishes to be visible to. However, He has been described in the Qur'an as infinite light (Light upon Light), and attribute humans can understand...

It is not a religious symbol. The Muslims have a lunar ca lander that they follow, and the crescent moon is the symbol of this ca lander.
