I want to become a Catholic. The problem is that I don't go to church. my parents used to go to church, but they stopped along the line. I did not get baptized, for some reason, when I was a baby. I remember that my strict Baptist aunt kept trying to get my mother to baptize me. I tried asking my parents to bring me to church twice before. Both times they said they were thinking about it, but they never mentioned it again and I did not bother to ask again. I am sort of embarassed to ask them to bring me to church because they probably think it's strange for me, a teenager, to ask them to bring me to church. I have no other means to get to church. Also, I went to a funeral service onetime and I was so nervous because I didn't know any of the prayers or anything. So I am sort of afraid to go to church. I also have little knowledge of the Bible and other religious matters, but I have to start somewhere.

Does this experience ever end and do you keep on dying only to be reincarnated again? What would be the purpose and why can you be man/woman, animal or something of nature (e.g, tree)?
I know I can read a book but it is a little confusing to understand. I read something about reaching a full inheritance. Would this be the end?

Religion has always created a social fabric with moral standards, social mores and taboos but atheism has none except don't have any. I hear some atheists claim that our morals are just socially evolved but every religions Holy Books give specific instructions. How would an atheist society decide which set of morals to adhere to? Who defines right and wrong? It isn't just common sense or else all societies would have similar laws. Things like cannibalism, polygamy, homosexuality, rape etc. are either socially accepted or horribly wrong depending on what society you live in. Moral relativism instead of pursuit of absolute truth would just lead to a societal breakdown of marriage, morality and all other traditions (based on religion) that a keep a society together. Look at America and Western Europe. Relativism and individualism are tearing apart tradition and leaving a void. WHat will atheists fill it with?

My work buddy told me about this. BTW, the quote "What do you think, God is a 50 ft tall invisible man who watches everything everyone does on 10 billion closed circuit TV sets" is kinda funny.

What do you think of this skit??????

Why don't we use Yeshua Messiah from Hebrew or some english version like Joshua Saviour? I guess Joshua Saviour doesn't have as good of a ring to it.

How can one say that there are 3 parts to one God?

They call each of the 3 they worship God (father, son, holy spirit), and that makes 3 Gods, and yet they tell me there is only 1 (The fools!). Jesus is a prophet because God cannot die, nor a part of him as he IS AND ALWAYS WAS ONE

Those who reject the signs, Allah shall soon cast them into fire, as often as their skins are roasted through, we shall change it for them with fresh skin that they may tast the penalty of fire, For Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise. Nisa 4:56

There can only be ONE God because he shares no power, he cannot die on some cross, he created all and obeys none. Glory be to God

Dare you deny these revelations?

(atheists play nice, i appreciate your answers and a few laughs from you as always)

If you cannot find a question to answer make a nice little statement. Have a nice day tomorrow also!

Call yourself a disciple when you made a statement like this? "do you put out. if you do, then you're the one for me. better if you're bi. " That disgusts me and you should make a new account if you are that shallow and have no depth to your personality because NO disciple of Christ would say something like that.

After reading scientific evidence for an Intelligent Designer?

"It is hard to fathom, but the amount of information in human DNA is roughly equivalent to 12 sets of The Encyclopaedia Britannica—an incredible 384 volumes" worth of detailed information that would fill 48 feet of library shelves!"

"Yet in their actual size—which is only two millionths of a millimeter thick—a teaspoon of DNA, according to molecular biologist Michael Denton, could contain all the information needed to build the proteins for all the species of organisms that have ever lived on the earth, and "there would still be enough room left for all the information in every book ever written" (Evolution: A Theory in Crisis, 1996, p. 334)."

Let me explain the paradox:

You say the earth is 6000 years old (roughly).

Yet modern science insists that the vast majority of observations of geology and astrophysics insist the universe is billions of years old.

Your answer tends to be something like "it just looks that way, but it isn't really."

Sometimes you even say that God made it that way in order to trick us. Could God do that if he wanted to? Sure.

But here's the problem:

If God can trick you into thinking a 6000 year old world was billions of years old by "faking it," what's to say he hasn't gone further?

How do you know that all history before your birth isn't also a fabrication, meant to trick you? If God can fake one, he could fake the other.

Heck, God could go right to the source, your own memories and experiences. How do you know LAST WEEK even happened? He could have faked your memories there too.

Knowing that the same answer justifying an "old" universe leads to such a vexing problem, how to you resolve it?

I've been to a variety of Christian churches, but I never encountered speaking in tounges. I've only heard people's accounts of it, and mostly it was from non-denominational members.

Can you tell me what denominations do this?
In those churches, does it take place on a regular basis?
Can people speak in tounges in their home/other place or is it usually at church?

I dont get why God would care if you follow him or not. I see that he would say if you follow my way then life will be easier for you. But to deem someone to hell just because they make the choice to follow something else? I dont get that....

To me that is like a man saying "unless you do what I say I will beat you" or a teacher saying unless you see the answer exactly how I see it regardless of understand it you will fail.....

Why would people believe God is this judgemental when he teaches not to judge?
