Of course it is impossible to answer this, however if he had gone to Bithynia he could then have gone up the Danube or down the Euphrates. As it was Thomas who was evangelizing the area of the Euphrates it may simply have been unnecessary and the region of the Danube may not have been seen as practical.

Outside scripture there is a body of writings, some of it contemporaneous to scripture, about this period.

There can be no answer to your question but as Thomas is known with certainty to have been in the adjacent area, it could simply have been practical. Eventually Thomas made it to India and that is part of how we know so much and have so much independent corroboration of apostolic tradition.

When the Portuguese arrived in India to Christianize it, they found the mass being sung just as Thomas had left it. That branch of Christianity had been cut off for over 1000 years, but was still thriving and had preserved the history of the apostolic period. In Western Europe, all that was remembered in the stories was that Thomas went East to evangelize and was never heard from again. In India where he was martyred. He is buried in Mylapur.

I like what this other girl said, you have to listen to that small voice of reason that says, this just isn't right. It's easier to hear when you are in fellowship and have named your sins to God..... which once you sin you get straight back out of it again. This being why nobody in the bible was perfect and said so, even Paul who said he was the worst of these.

Because the time wasn't right....God knows when people will be the most receptive to hear his word. And/or because something would have happened that God didn't want to happen...

He does tell us things like that...we just need to listen to that still small voice....how many accidents have you almost been in and not because you were late for one reason or another?
