Definitions for stuff society doesn't want you to do.

Eating fatty foods is wrong for your diet?
Not going to church on Sunday is a sin?
Having sex out of wedlock..oops you decide.
We make it all up?

Sin is a breaking of a direct commandment. Like don't lie!
God hates liars, or don't steal or don't commit adultry.
Don't mistreat your parents or older people. It would be a sin to do that. Which carries a heavy penality. Don't participate in false worship of other gods or pagan customs.
But nothing is said about charitible works? It is not a sin not to donate unusable items to the poor. but it would be wrong.
It says marry only in the Lord, meaning in your religion.
But what if you fell in love with an unbeliever and married him?
That would not be a sin, it was only a suggestion that it would be harder on you. It is wrong but not a sin.
Would it be a sin not to go to some foreign country and donate food? No, that is not a sin. but it would be wrong.

Sin is something that goes against God's will and the Christian way of life. Man has based alot of the rights and wrongs from those biblical times, however, right and wrong is mans version.

For example: It is a sin to get divorced.

Is that wrong? Not anymore... right?

So thankfully we have guidelines and a savior whom says once you sin, name it and site it to God in the name of the son (our Savior) and you will be forgiven.

If its wrong to someone do you think it's always that simple just to say hey, I was wrong.... and move on?

I think they are totally different

Sin was conjured up by man. In Gods eyes there is no sin because man knows right from wrong. That book written by a guy named James was a joke. It was a way of coercing people into fear to give freely unto the king what belongs to the king. THINK!

Since there is no god the concept of sin makes little sense. Right and wrong are defined by society, some standards are universal others are local, by inventing a god some of those 'wrongs' are elevated to sins.

Sin is the transgression of God's law. These standards are absolute. For example, "Thou shalt not commit adultery" makes no exception, not even to save your life. In a religious environment, sin is wrong.

But in a nearby non-religious environment (where the concept of sin is unknown), it may be morally correct for wife-swapping to occur on a regular basis but illegal nevertheless.. Therefore, in one society, adultery is a sin and wrong but in the other society, it is neither a sin nor wrong morally but wrong legally. Did I just make the situation more difficult to understand?

yes. sin is an abomination to God. To not rewind a movie before returning is wrong, but not a sin. To dress in clothes that's too small is wrong but not a sin. Something wrong, isn't necessarily a sin.

Sin means to transgress against the will of a god, and since no gods exist in reality, neither does sin. To say something is wrong (in a moral sense) is to express a subjective value judgment, which definitely does exist.

Both are just societal manifestations of the dichotemy of good and evil created by trial and error. Neither holds any bearing beyond the scope of personal well being except when ones rights are violated by another. Personally, I believe that you should govern your actions, and any action against you by another is "wrong"... however that is my personal opinion. Take christianity for example... historically actions against non-christians were not considered wrong or sinful because they "had no souls"... sign of the times. Society dictates these rules to us and no one else.

If your religion dictates role moral responsibility to you, then sin is relevant (and acts as your wrong)... if society, then sin is mute, as sin is merely pertaining to a desireful god.
