Genesis 18:20-21
"Then the LORD said, 'The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.'"

Genesis 19:4-5
"Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom-- both young and old -- surrounded the house. They called to Lot,'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."

There is an element of Homosexuality in the story but that is not the point of the story. The men of Sodom were going to gang rape the messengers of God. They were as evil as it is possible to be there was not a good person in either of the cities. It was not because they were homosexual that the cites were destroyed. Had they been guilty of no other sins the cities would not have been destroyed.

Lot, his wife and his two daughters were good people and were not destroyed in the city. Lot's wife was turned to salt for not listening. "Had they been guilty of no other sins the cities would not have been destroyed" is an opinion. The commission of one sin such as being a homosexual makes you guilty of all sins.
