I've been to some churches where they celebrate it every week and some that do it once a quarter.
Which denominations celebrate what? And When?
Why do they do this? And what does the Bible say about it?

If by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit are sons of God.
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirits that we are God's children. -ROMANS 8:13-16

Science is based on mathematics. mathematics is based on belief (e.g. "any point external to a straight determines a single parallel to the given line", still unproven, that's why they call it an axiom). Why is this different from religion? I'd like to hear from both believers and non-believers.
And PLEASE do your homework, the answers to my Lucifer question were very dissapointing. the only biblical mention of Lucifer was a Vulgata mistranlation of Ezechiel.
And please don't say "effects and postulates", dear atheists, Christians have been saying this all along and if you didn't take it as a valid argument, why should I?

See if you can pick which one of these are quotes isn't from the Bible.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit....

One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables.....

'Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.
You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property....

Suffer the little children to pray in the places of teaching....

Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind....

How could it have been a gesture of love for Lot to offer his daughters to the men outside his door?

(If you know the answer to this puzzle (for sure), please e-mail me the answer; so as not to spoil it for the others who are trying to guess the answer.)

I couldn't be a member of YAnswers and not ask this question; the most important of all questions. Who Is Jesus Christ?

"Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." John 1:29

"he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities."
Psalm 103:10

"Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior." Colossians 1:21

"For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God." Ephesians 5:5

It seems perplexing to me that someone would be so keen to explain the origin of the universe that they invoke a god as its creator, but then have no interest at all in accounting for the existence of that god. Where is the explanatory value of this idea?

If a hive is evidnce for bees,a nest evidence for birds and a web evidence for spiders;why dont you accept the universe as evidence for God?And natural scientific processes isnt a sufficient rebutal;cuase then you have to explain where those scientific processes came from.

Again, weather the creator is immediatly present or not;is creation not evidence for the creator?

Check this out, from Wikipedia- it's sited:

A 2006 study by researchers at the University of Minnesota involving a poll of 2,000 households in the United States found atheists to be the most distrusted of minorities, more so than Muslims, recent immigrants, gays and lesbians, and other groups.

Many of the respondents associated atheism with immorality, including criminal behaviour, extreme materialism, and elitism.

However, the same study also reported that, “The researchers also found acceptance or rejection of atheists is related not only to personal religiosity, but also to one’s exposure to diversity, education and political orientation — with more educated, East and West Coast Americans more accepting of atheists than their Midwestern counterparts.”

Why insist on insulting one's beliefs?
Everyone has the right to BELIEVE or DIS-BELIEVE. It is simple human rights.
If you believe the Bible is a fairy-tale, and believe in evolution, you have a right to be in here, but science is a better site to discuss science, unless you just really feel superior insulting people because they believe the Bible, and that's why you are really here, to insult people.
Yes, it is rude, and immature to insult people.
DOES IT MAKE YOU FEEL SUPERIOR????? WHY?

Do you think that the laws of logic (upon which the above mathematical solution depends) are based on God's nature, or do they exist independently of God's nature.

P.S. For those of you who are thinking of saying, "Yeah, because he doesn't exist," think of something more creative.

I don't believe in any God. There is no scientific evidence to prove existence of any. It is impossible for a force like that to exist. Just think- a force that controls everything. It is so impossible that it is quite humorous. I have gotten into arguments with my parents, who are Christians. I get so angry that they believe in a God. I think they are fools for believing in God. Religion is the cause of the world's problems. Look at the Middle East. All these radicals are religious extremists. There have been no science extremists that I'm aware of. If science ruled the world, and it should, we'd be a much more logical and happy place. Science can prevent and cure diseases, not religion. Science can advance civilization, not religion. Science gives true happiness, not religion. In the future, science will save millions of lives when it discovers a cure to cancer, and religious people will still be asking a nonexistent force for some miracle cure that will not come without science.

Yes, this has been done, but I have not seen the angle I am taking.

I am not going to posit "belief in God is stupid," or "smart people follow scientific theory." No...instead I am going to base my question on a very simple observation:

The average Christian on Yahoo! Answers clearly has a less ability to write a coherent sentence that adheres to the grammatical rules of English than the average atheist here.

I've noticed this frequently. I find myself giving a "thumbs down" every time I run across a Christian whose answer to damn near every question is a variation on

cuz god sez to do eet

You don't find reasoned arguments where facts are laid out, followed by reasonable argumentation from those facts (even if it was argumentation from Scripture, that would be a start). And too often, you don't even find such niceties as proper punctuation, spelling, and other grammatical necessities, even though there is a spell check available!

Why is that?
