(Christian Speaking) First I'd like to thank the Atheist community that gathers here on Y/A. I've asked other questions to Atheist and am so grateful for the respect they have shown me..you guy's are great!

My Question: Putting the idea of God to the side for a moment, I have noticed many have written that they believe the bible has many flaws and seems to contradict itself. What would be one of those "huge" glaring examples that sticks with you most? Just (1)...maybe (2)

Thanks for satifying my curiosity

How does the transfiguration still affect our lives today and/or how does it relate to today. Also what would be a good film (clip) to model the transfiguration.

I'm no specailist on atheists, but I understand that you don't believe in a higher power or heaven or hell or whatever. But if you don't believe in the afterlife or god or anything, what is point of bieng here.

From me as a christian, the point of life is to be a tool for God. To enlighten others who want to hear the word, To live my life the way god would want me to, and if it is his will, for him to use me for whatever and ultimatly to go to heaven.
To atheists, What is the point of human life?
Why are we all here, and what is the reward for living your life morally correct.

I'm not trying to present myself as perfect christian /person or judge any one who doesn't agree with my lifestyle, I'm just asking for better understanding so don't get upset, and if this question offends anyone, just try to remember that you don't have to answer it.

Doesn't it take faith to say that something is "good" or "evil"? Thinking in absolutes like that is uncommon outside of faiths.

This comes from something someone just answered:

"An atheist has no faith, having recognized that faith, being the holding of an opinion unsupported by evidence, is illogical and hence evil. It is correct to say that the existence of god can be neither proved nor disproved; it is provable from that, however, that no theory of god can be of any consequence in the real world: all such theories are useless."

Personally, my beliefs on "good" and "evil" are summed up nicely in a book I once read. I don't think I can quote it correctly here (it has been too many years) but I will try.
"There is no good or evil, balck or white. Just many horrible shades of gray."
(I believe that is from the Ghatti's Tale series by Gayle Greeno, which is also where "Kharm" comes from.)

I know a friend of mine was not a member of the LDS church when she went to BYU, but was raised attending the church. She wasn't baptized as a kid, but later (in college) was baptized. She's very happy with her decision. But if you're already sure that you aren't going to convert, why go to BYU? There are lots of great universities that give a comperable education and you don't have to take religion classes in a religion you don't believe in. Just curious. No disrespect intended.

Someone said someone died on the cross for my sins but didn't elaborate. I have a cross but I don't know what it's for, only that it's a Christian emblem. I also have a pentacle, and I know that's a Wiccan emblem. Did someone die on the pentacle or is this completely separate? How can someone die for my sins? That doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe it was a typo?
