Who should the burden of proof really be on?

The christians, proving something that cannot be seen, touched, smelt, tasted, or heard?

or atheists, proving that which already shows no signs of existing, doesn't exist?

Ok, in Sydney Australia last week a promising your 14 year old was sadly taken from her family. Killed by another boat on our fair harbour.

I want to know why God would take such a beautiful, promising young girl who was destined for many things on this earth - when there are a million and 1 other people he could have taken in her place?

Why didnt he choose someone who had no goals in life or someone who is dying a painful death anyway?

Why does he pick and choose who he takes through his pearly gates?

Surely even the most devout Christian would agree that it would be more fair to take someone dying of a painful disease that it is to take someone in their prime...

Has this ever happened to you? Your sitting at the computer, eating lunch, reading, studying at school or going about your normal everyday business then suddenly out of nowhere the most gruesome, horrible thoughts come into your mind? Does anyone think it is possible evil spirits are behind these thoughts, and if so can a person combat these dark forces with prayer alone or does one need to go to a priest or minister and ask for help as well.

some ask atheists about what proof atheists need to believe in God ,thats really silly to ask them ,allah(God) is known and no free thinker neglect that ,we see his signs everywhere ,if atheists are blind and cant see his signs that is their problem ,,,we dont need to proof to them existence of God bec creation of atheists is a proof that there is God

If there was one absolute truth that could prove to you that God exists (yes, this is a hypothetical situation and I know it probably doesn't currently exist), what would it be?

Examples:
- He would have to show himself to you physically
- give you everything you've ever wanted
- stop world hunger and violence

I'm honestly and Sincerely curious. I won't argue anything.

Have you studied how the leaves are on branches that lead to more branches, which lead to more, infinitly it seems (and maybe is, until the tree dies anyway).

From far away, the tree looks like a green mushroom, but up close you can see all the little pieces.

Have you ever sat in a tree and felt like you were part of it?

There are rules about how much facial hair you are allowed to have when you work with food, but if you cry religion then you can have a 5 foot long beard and no one can say anything?

Does having a beard for religious reasons stop the hair from falling into food?

Honest question for Christians say the bible is meant to be completely literal: What do you think of these commandments from Jesus?

Matthew:5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30.And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Luke 18:22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

Do you think we should literally gouge out our eyes if we see a sexy person with them? Should we really sell everything we have? If so, why do none of the literalists I've ever met or heard of do these things? Shouldn't we have a bunch of Christians with empty eye cavaties wandering the streets homeless and possesionless?

For the sake of this question (and don't try to convince me otherwise) say Jesus is not the son of God, that whole side of Jesus was modeled after Pagan beliefs and Paul told of Jesus incorrectly.

First of all, what evidence (other than biblical) do we have of Jesus' existance?

Was he the son of God in the sense that he became one with the Divine (in his religion Yahweh) through a metaphysical experience that revealed the concept of Unity to him? Are many people capable of this?

I mean, all the things he did were to carry out the prophecy, right? So he purposely carried out the prophecy (like John baptising him, etc). Could that mean he just felt like a dude who could show people how to connect with the Divine and so he claimed he was the messiah?

Aren't people always the ones that make prophecies come true? We've been shown to have self fulfilling prophecies. We are the ones that say "this tornado fits this prophecy. It is fulfilled"
It's not really such a crazy concept.

Like in my last question, when I asked about "fear" some girl told me the hebrew meaning is "respect." Why not have a bible, especially since it is a translation, where things mean what they mean?

By mystical experience, I mean through meditation or prayer, you become one with God, or the Divine, or the World Soul, or however you see it after. I don't believe the experience itself makes these limitations, but when we discribe it later we have to put finite words on the experience.

I also am not talking about normal bedtime prayers. I mean an extreme feeling of Unity with everything.

Do you? Have you experienced this? If so, what was your experience in brief?

OK, lets say you make a deal with the devil, and you ask him i will give you my soul in and all i want is to go back to the very day jesus was on the cross.

No the devil ponders and then accepts. Whooosh!! you go back to the year 33 (the year of his crusificion).

Then you personal kill Jesus as he walk his cross to the hill where he is said to be nailed and killed.

In the bible it says that if jesus was killed by a man, he/she would give birth to satans son.

So 10 months later (1 month to hook up with a chick) she gives birth to the son of devil.

You then make a second deal with the devil saying i will give you your son in return you must send me back to where i came from. 2007.

He that accepts.

Is this true or not, proof that time travel does'nt exist!
