Can demons project thoughts into people's minds?

Has this ever happened to you? Your sitting at the computer,eating lunch,reading,studying at school or going about your normal everyday business then suddenly out of nowhere the most gruesome,horrible thoughts come into your mind? Does anyone think it is possible evil spirits are behind these thoughts,and if so can a person combat these dark forces with prayer alone or does one need to go to a priest or minister and ask for help as well.

Same as they can posses people and oppress Christians.
A good saying to remember is "You cant stop the birds from flying over, but you sure can stop them from nestling".
You have to look at your lifestyle for you have to open a door to let someone go into an area.
Are you watching horror movies filth porn, violent or satanic video war games, What do you do and talk about with you mates? Ask yourself why that thought could have come into your head -- does it relate to anything of recent or past activities that you haven't denounced.
If your a Christian, you can tell the thoughts to go in the Name of Jesus and cover yourself with the Armour of God. (Eph6)
Be careful how you use the name of Jesus though, The Name above All names! Acts 19:13-17 gives you a true and good example of that.
I am just giving you these scriptures to look up, because they are too long to put on here. + if you really want this your going to have to do some of the footwork.
Resist the devil and he will flee!

Thoughts come from both good and evil. Evil spirits do work through the minds of men and women and they start planting their seed of evil sometimes while we are yet children. That is why we must guard what is watched on tv as far as watching murder, violence, killing and the evening news...HA! But seriously The Word of God tell us to put on the helmet of Salvation which is used to guard our minds against the evil thoughts and temptations that Satan tries to entrap us. He works at possessing those who are not Born Again..

I totally agree with tuberoot about demons being able to estimate human reactions. I've had a familiar spirit for years, which started working on me as an imaginary friend when I was two or three years old.

Yes..and you can come against these occurances. The key is that you have asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart ,AND MEAN IT!

There is a fantastic book (besides THE book..the Bible) by an author named Frank Peretti. It's called This Present Darkness.

God Himself must have given this man the awesome insight as to jsut how subtle and deceptive demonic forces can be..AND just how awesomly God orchestrates counter measures. Many many times because someone has prayed and asked God to interviene.

The brain is a complex organ. Yes, I think it is possible. It is probably the result of many real dark pictures and stories we hear on a daily basis...call it a "Memory Stew" that is buried in the subconscious much like what happens to us all in dreams. You don't know where the pictures come from but you know they are there because you experience the flash... Just bless yourself and say ..."God , please make it go away" and mean it. Then don't dwell on it or worry about it.

Demons of course can do such things and more based on your spiriitual level... they can even appear as angels of light to deceive people.
But also keep in mind as St James says, that sometimes the temptations comes from within based on what we watch listen to and llow to infiltrate our minds.

If the war was external then the most fearful sign for the devil and his demons is teh sign of the cross because it is teh sign of victory for Christians and the sign of defeat for the evil spirits.
Prayers are of course an important aspect. But examine yourself fist throroughly and reading psalms before going to sleep also will help you. The priest prayer is also useful.

When you experience this right away recite teh following several times and the thoughts will surely escape from you .

The short prayer : O my Lord Jesus Christ help I am the weak

You might have information about that form of demonic attack that we don't.

From my experience, the demonic can enter into dreams, and manifest into reality.

I believe that demons cannot read minds, but have been around so long that they can estimate human reactions. For at least thousands of years they have a practiced method of influencing. I think that influencing may include thought projection, but I don't know that for sure.

Yes this is how satan works, the remedy is an easy one, "Walk in the spirit and you will not satisfy the lust of the flesh! Now staying in the spirit is to keep in his word daily, to subject every thought to the Christ mind! And the demons will flea if you tell them to in the Name of Jesus only!

I don't think Satan can make you do something that you don't want to do, perhaps mess with your thoughts, and one reason why is, Satan can not read your thoughts. He can, however, read our countenances, which can almost be the same as reading our thoughts. Our auras, or countenances, display the feelings and emotions of our soul. God sees them, angels sees them, and Satan sees them. Even very sensitive people here can see them. We can protect ourselves by controlling our thoughts, by allowing the light of Christ to enter our lives. As we do this, the light of Christ will shine through us and will actually appear in our countenances.
