is it ok to get rune tattoos for a wiccan/odinist (my friend wants 2 know) he's a guy

Runic tats are fine.
I have a Runic band around my upper arm.
The thing to remember with the Runes and tattooing is that there is going to be an admixture of energies going on, and your friend has to be aware of it, and prepared for it.
The tattooist is doing the "carving" but it's your friend's blood that will be bleeding them.
So it's kinda like purchasing a commercial set of Runes and bleeding them himself.

Well, hopefully he's really committed to it and not just dipping in a toe. That would be my concern. Otherwise, there's nothing in either religion that's against it, and runes that mean something to him would be pretty appropriate.
I'm a Pagan and have my father's race car number and the State of Florida over my heart, and will have a smiling, sitting panda bear once I figure out where to place it. No problem with those, either. :-)

I'm not sure what a odinist is but I think you should get a tattoo if it truely means something to you... many religions say not to get tattoos.... Sorry I couldn't be more helpful :oS

Why not, It's not against a Wiccan's religion to get tattoo's. Nor is it terrible to get rune tattoo's being wiccan.

The symbol of the cross in all it's variations is no different than a rune. I say if your friend wants runes give him runes.
