the god i described in my last sentance were taken from the verses such as...

2 Kings 2:23-24 (forcing suffering)
Leviticus 24:10-11 (telling a camp to stone a man)
Genesis 7 - god drowns everyone except moses and his family.
How bout where moses pursuers drown in the red sea? how bout where Samson kills 1000 philistines? how bout the other instances where GOD, not satan, command people be executed for their sins...

everything i said was verses about god not satan, yet you proved that they are evil deeds.

you did prove my point. that god of the bible commits evil/sinful attrocities.

I'd really like to know-- I'm not being insulting, as I have many atheist friends who are oftentimes more moral than my Christian friends.
I'd like to know how you set your morals and values-- maybe I can learn something important I can apply to myself.

I have read that there is a passage in the Qu'ran that says something akin to "blessed are those who make their friends laugh" - as if Allah understood the true value of a sense of humor. Does the bible say anything of the sort? I guess this is a two part question. Part 1, what's the exact quote. Part 2, what's the biblical analog. Or Part 2, does the god of the bible not have a sense of humor (please don't tell me about avocado pits or appendixes on humans and if you want to show examples, just give the reference, I can look them up without wading through cut and pasted tracts).

What is the meaning behind it and how long are the ashes supposed to stay on your head? Last year a guy came to work with ashes on his head and a lot of us didn't understand why. Some people even told him he had dirt on his head. Are you supposed to keep the ashes on you while you're at work, or does that matter?

I was raised Catholic, but not really practicing. I have had a 3 year relationship with a Baptist guy who is very faithful and very involved in his church. We have other things in common and thats what has kept us together, and I am trying to involve myself more in his church, and develop my own faith and relationship with God. I was raised kind of feminist and liberal and I think going to church and being more conservative would have been good for me growing up, so I want to give my future children a more guided household with more Spiritual influence.
I am just worried because I dont know if I know how to be a "good Christian wife." Can someone tell me what this means and how I can be a good wife at all to someone who is very faithful to God and his Church? Thanks so much.
