You should start with the wikipedia page and the page at sacred-texts.org, which will give you what remains of the sacred texts of the culture.

Much of the Aztec religion was bound up with the culture of the lineage of the ruling class - blood sacrifice was largely self mutilation by the ruling class (the emperor and his family) alone. Sacrifice was not the mass killing/ theatrical thing is has been shown in the movies.

There is a lot to Aztec beliefs
Might want to start with something like:

And pick what sort of book you would like to get.
My Wife did Some Meso-American Studies and loved the Mayan Faiths... but she did more work in that realm than me.
I forget if it was Aztec or Incan speech, but a Patch on Win XP is available for free for one of those Languages, since it is still taught in the Central Mexican area ( Is that Chiapa... forgive my spelling, I forget the right orthography).,...

That is a good question.

The Aztecs are todays Mexicans.

The Spanish forced them into the Catholic church in the 16th century, which explains why they're so screwed up today.

There's a lot to it, more than I can type in here... there are books out on it, but I loaned out the one I had on it and can't remember the title offhand... I'm sure you'll find something though.

They were pretty violent in their rituals. The History Channel has some great shows on the subject.
