I have read that there is a passage in the Qu'ran that says something akin to "blessed are those who make their friends laugh" - as if Allah understood the true value of a sense of humor. Does the bible say anything of the sort? I guess this is a two part question. Part 1, what's the exact quote. Part 2, what's the biblical analog. Or Part 2, does the god of the bible not have a sense of humor (please don't tell me about avocado pits or appendixes on humans and if you want to show examples, just give the reference, I can look them up without wading through cut and pasted tracts).
Thanks in advance.

Careful John L, many Christians believe Mohamed to be a false prophet - the Christians seem to be the mirthless ones here.

Hmmm, fwiw, I don't claim to be Muslim, it's simply my understanding that all that's written in the Qu'ran is attributable to Allah. I also understand that 99% of all Christians don't read it and a significant portion of them consider the entire book the work of a false prophet. And yet, it is exquisitely good advice, to my way of thinking - humor is a sign of our own divinity. Chill. It's not an attack. And no, "a time to laugh"...doesn't convey quite the same notion to me.

Well, I googled and found NOTHING of the sort in the Qur'an. Possibly that saying is just an aphorism that mentions Allah and his smiling upon those who make friends laugh. Still a good though but boy, from the acrimony of *some* of the responses you'd think I'd have said there was a sign advertising free cake and ice cream down at the mosque.

When I took Religion Studies in college, I was informed by my professor that Muslims (and please correct me if I'm wrong) believed that the Qu'ran was the third book. The Jews have the Torat (the first testament), announced the coming of God and his teaching. Then the second testament came along which furthered the message of God and through Muhammed, believed by some and not so by others, God finished his message. So if one want's get the full message of God one must read all three books.
I don't know if this true or not, but it makes a bit of sense, because Muslims (and again correct me if I'm wrong - Islam is not my religion) and I'm not talking about the fanatical muslims but the normal everyday average joe muslims, believe that Allah and the Judeo-Christian God is one and the same. It's judeo-christians and fanatical muslims that split hairs.
Anyway, I guess I should answer your question. . . .
I like that saying, I think it holds a simplistic truth. One only has to look at joyous children playing and laughing to see that they are blessed.

Ecclesiastes 3:4a says A time to weep and a time to laugh. So this means that it is good to laugh. I don't know who put the stereotype out there that says that Christians can't have fun. We are able to laugh and have a sense of humor as everyone else does. We are human just like everyone else.

Yes,
Ecclesiates 3:1-8: A time for everything, including laughter.
Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.
God loves a cheerful heart, but not mockery.

Read Ecclesiastes 3
"a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance"
p.s. I thought that Muslims believed that Christians also worship Allah?

Hey, the Jews probably have the best sense of humour in the World - so Jehovah, who christians believe they also worship, must like humour.

There are many points of "humor" in the bible. Imagine a whole army dancing around a city for seven days and then blowing trumpets and the entire city crumbles. I say that's hilarious!
