After my last question, I was just wondering if you know the following:

Not all Christians are uneducated.
Not all Christians are homophobic.
Not all Christians are against abortion.
Not all Christians in the US voted for Bush.
Not all Christians are against stem-cell research.
Not all Christians are against alcohol.

Christians can have sex.
Christians can have a drink.
Christians can participate in extreme sports (funniest question I've read all day, btw).

And most importantly, not all Christians are out to "get you", or trying to get the "conversion points" that apparently we receive in Heaven for every person we "convince" to believe in God.

*lol* Really, I'm not sure how Christians as a whole got so boxed into one group of hate-filled, hell & damnation yellers, but we aren't all that way. (Thank God! *wink*)

just like you see some miracles of faith of christianity healing people spiritual holy men have healed people too. Wouldn't that make you think faith is powerful instead of [x religion is powerful]?

After all, they are helping to add blessing us.......

Matthew 5:10-12 (New International Version)

10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

good to know that Jesus warned us 2000 years ago about these people who insult us because of Him.

Did Jesus have more faith by dying on the cross

Or did Joseph have more faith to believe that his virgin wife was pregnant by god?

It seems to me, that at the heart of most religeons are 3 things. The first is , make yourself a better person and lead others to better themselves. The second, live your life as you will but respect the laws of nature. the final, this path leads to perfection.

From those 3 things any religeon can be built. Then culture comes in, and with culture - ignorance. Culture adds rules, and twists the words and meaning of those three things to ensure strife, pain, and more ignorance.

My simple question, How could I, or anyone, go about creating a religeon that would not become corrupted by culture or other people's "interpretation"?

any ideas?

Note - I am an atheist. However, I have found that each religeon for all its faults does have some golden bits of wisdom. I'd like to use part of each to give mankind the gift of a peaceful future.

i admit, i'm a cynic (i also don't HAVE a religion... i do believe in god, but not in the bible or anything... and i don't go to church.), but i find it hard to believe all the stuff in the bible. How do you KNOW that some random guy didn't just randomely write a bunch of stuff down and call it "fact." what evidence is there for that?

personally, i think formal religion is a bunch of bull. just being honest. going to church every sunday doesn't make you moral, or a good person. if you truly BELIEVE in god or buddha or whatever, then that's great. but so many people just so up to mass and sleep, then go on about how fantastic they are because they attend church. come on people! if you're going to "believe," at least make an effort!

Well, i think i love this girl. She is a really good friend of mine and i love everything about her. me and her have the same things in common, like Everything, and shes christian, does not cuss, likes the same music i do, i mean perfect for me. The thing is, one of her friends came to me and asked me if i thought she was cute, and i answered yes. I know her friend told her, and now when i hear her talking with other people about me i get the feeling she doesn't like me. But the wierd thing is she still seems like she likes me, and thier is nothing akward between us, even though she might know i like her. I am so confused on what to do, do i tell her, and she say no so our friendship would be akward or just wait it out? What do you guys think?

First off, I mean no offense by anything I say. I'm not asking this question as a kind of challenge. To do as such would be pointless. I'm sure its been pointed out before and Christianity is still around, thus it wouldn't be effective anyway. And because doing so would be offensive to those reading.

Anyway, my question is this: Why did God have to sacrifice Himself, to Himself, to save His creations from Himself?

The way this is written sounds kind of demeaning and I don't mean for it to be taken that way. Its simply the first way I ever heard the question and I think its the most effective way to outline the basic question without weird sentences.

Without trying to offend, this seems kind of ridiculous to me. Why not just forgive? Why does He have to sacrifice His son to allow people into Heaven? I dont really understand

Keep in mind, I don't want answers such as "God created his son to save us, etc" I know this. Im asking why this was needed for an omnipotent God. Thanks a lot.

and being saved and repenting is all that matters, is that why so many Christians go around insulting and hating people? They believe that they can go and apologize and say that was a Bad Thing, then it's all okay again?

I'm trying to understand the mentality of people. I can't really ask my husband, because he refuses to call himself a Christian because of all the atrocities that have been done in the name of Christianity.

I am NOT saying all Christians do this. I would NEVER say all Christians do this. I am getting very mad at the people that think I'm insulting them. Many Christians are bigots, that is true. I am NOT saying that all are. Do NOT take it that way. For crying out loud, my best friends are Christians.

So what do you think? I'm just asking for opinoins here.

Then why do children need to be taught right from wrong. A room full of children unsupervised is soon chaos.

Why do men with unchecked power soon resort to grievous evil?

Are not all men, left to their own devices and desires, self centered, self serving and self preserving?

If you choose to not believe that's fine by me, but what are you trying to do? "Save" me from heaven? Prevent me from not committing adultery? Are you trying to tell me that I am giving up something by believing in God?

I just don't get why non-believers are constantly trying to disprove God. If you don't believe, that's ok with me. So why does my faith bother you so terribly?

I really want to attend a particular college because of its location and great academics. It is a private college affiliated with the United Methodist church. I have a full tuition scholarship.

The only thing I may have against this school is that I am not religious and am scared I won't fit in there, or that the staff may look down upon me for not attending chapel. My political views are liberal and I consider myself an independent or democrat. I'm a little afraid of being lynched.

Has anyone has any experience with this? Any ideas as to how I can gain a better perspective of how seriously religion is taken at this school?

I do know that there are no religious requirements for students to be admitted and that once admitted a student is not required to attend chapel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried one yesterday as a way to see it for myself. I got sick of everyone telling me they where wrong for no good reason, so I tried it myself with 3 friends, and I see no demons, no suicides, no possesions, NOTHING! I think that if these things are sold in toys R us, they can't pose that much as a danger IMO. If there is any testimony against these things, tell be about what happened because I am having a HARD time finding anyone who was hurt by these things in any way whatsoever.
