After my last question, I was just wondering if you know the following:

Not all Christians are uneducated.
Not all Christians are homophobic.
Not all Christians are against abortion.
Not all Christians in the US voted for Bush.
Not all Christians are against stem-cell research.
Not all Christians are against alcohol.

Christians can have sex.
Christians can have a drink.
Christians can participate in extreme sports (funniest question I've read all day, btw).

And most importantly, not all Christians are out to "get you", or trying to get the "conversion points" that apparently we receive in Heaven for every person we "convince" to believe in God.

*lol* Really, I'm not sure how Christians as a whole got so boxed into one group of hate-filled, hell & damnation yellers, but we aren't all that way. (Thank God! *wink*)

You stated that very nicely, better than most people could have.

I'm not a Christian, haven't been one for years, but I can say that you accurately described the vast majority of the Christians I know.

Thumbs down on the abortion.
stem cell research is great if it is in adults.
Although Christians CAN have sex, outside of marriage it is a sin.
Although not homophobic, homosexuality is a sin.
Alcohol, in moderation, in my opinion is fine, but as a christian if you are knockin' a few back in company that might have a problem you are causing your brother to stumble.(that's a sin).
Conversion points, I'm not sure what you're saying, but I do know of the "BEMA SEAT" (judgement seat) of Christ where we will be rewarded for our works after being saved.

It's possible to be Christian and not have voted for Bush, but if Kerry was your checkmark on the ballot, I don't think you made a vote for family values by ANY means!

Almost sounds to me like you are describing Laodecia!
Other than that I agree with you totally...HA.

Well the most concise definition of a Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Christ, so everything you have said there should be just COMMON SENSE, shouldn't it? I would probably be considered Christian, but I like to think of myself as gnostic, but then again, it's all really semantics, isn't it?
I thank 'God' there are tolerant and knowledgeable people out there like you who are attempting to correct the poor reputation of true Christians.

It's nice to meet you, too, MPJ. We look forward to having reasonable people like you to talk to. I guess sometimes, with all of the hate spewed forth towards us from people on here who call themselves Christians, we just might need to be reminded that there are sane, down-to-Earth Christians out there on Y/A, too. (We do know there's lots of cool Christians out in the REAL world, but sometimes it seems like none of them find their way here. Or maybe we all, Christians and atheists alike, tend to only NOTICE the ones who stand out. And they tend to be the nastier, angrier ones.)

Yes, I know. My husband is one of the best and most intelligent people I know. He just happens to be Christian. I try to help respectful Christians as much as anybody else. If you want to see an example of a wonderful Christian on here, just find EyeLovesJesus. She's really sweet and kind.

Thank you!!! I've been trying to say that for the longest time, but you said it much better!!! :) How did us Christians get such a bad reputation? You would think that we would have a good reputation, considering many of us try to spread a message of love and kindness. Somehow, it got all turned around, thanks to a few extremists. Thanks for putting a good word out there for our fellow Christians. It's nice to hear someone saying good things for a change!!!

Nice - Direct and respectful statement of where you are coming from. I can relate to that, and appreciate you putting it out there. Often find myself not being direct about my beliefs because of the speed with which I get lumped into a group that does not reflect my beliefs and values.

Agree with some, but not all. to be Christian is to be Christ-like and to be christ-like is definatly against abortion. There is however a difference between those that are saved and Christians.

I am a Christian and could not agree with you more. Well said and thanks for your amazing ability to put so much into such a short statement of truth.
