Men are not basically good or basically evil. We are the product of millions of years of evolution and biologically preprogrammed to certain behaviors.
Children left unsupervised in a room make a chaotic scene. Who says chaos is wrong? What one society teaches is wrong can be perfectly fine behavior in the eyes of another society.
Men with power do not always commit evil acts. Its a matter of point of view, evil does not exist other than to someone looking at deeds from a different point of view.
Not all men are self serving, nor are they selfless. Men (as in humans) are usually a curious mixture of both.

Mob mentality. Peer pressure. People are more comfortable doing bad things in groups than they are by themselves. Take your pick. And the point of life is self preservation.

When God created Man, He created it perfect and without any flaw. But, when Satan tempted mankind (Adam and Eve), he planted darkness in human heart. Then God cursed us 'till the generations to come.
Also, I think environment had a big factor in shaping human behavior.

Mankind was created good. At the end of every "day" of creation, God stopped and said: "It is good".
Ergo, mankind is basically good, yes. Fallen? Yes. Flawed? Yes. In need of a Savior? Yes.

People are not basically good. People are animals. We have this veneer called "civilization" that is easily and quickly stripped away.
The easiest way is something called war.

No.
A little research on your part would show very easily that evolution favors altruism and 'good' morality... actions that prevent suffering are obviously more favorable.
