and being saved and repenting is all that matters, is that why so many Christians go around insulting and hating people? They believe that they can go and apologize and say that was a Bad Thing, then it's all okay again?

I'm trying to understand the mentality of people. I can't really ask my husband, because he refuses to call himself a Christian because of all the atrocities that have been done in the name of Christianity.

I am NOT saying all Christians do this. I would NEVER say all Christians do this. I am getting very mad at the people that think I'm insulting them. Many Christians are bigots, that is true. I am NOT saying that all are. Do NOT take it that way. For crying out loud, my best friends are Christians.

So what do you think? I'm just asking for opinoins here.

I'm sorry if this seems a bit sharp, but I just got yelled at. Hence the rant. Check out my other question on the link.

Many does not equal all. Hence the "many" not the "all."

And DiesixDie, sadly, I agree with you. This was more an attempt to get the people that answered my last question to explain themselves.

I think there are two fundamental types of Christianity that I have found to be true. 1. Those who are kind, down to earth, overall good people who are on this earth to do God's work. (I am a Christian, by the way) 2. "Christians" who are out there to say that they are Christians, but don't really act like good, caring people God has wanted them to be. The second type gives us Christians a bad rap. I am by no means degrading Christians who are like number 2 but I have observed this in the small town I live in. Everyone hides their bad remarks behind a Christianity mask, well not everyone, but there are some. It's a social thing. I am not here to say who is truly Christian or whatever, I am just pointing out some observations. Personally, I do not go around pointing out I am a good Christian, I simply show up on Sunday, strum my guitar, sing hymns, pray, and worship. :)

I can only tell you this, a true Christian does not go around and deliberately sin (ie; rudeness, hateful words, etc.) and then think they can just ask for forgiveness. God know the TRUE heart of a person. He knows if one is sincere or living out a ritualistic lie.

If you really are not sorry, then you do not get forgiven. If you are really sorry, then you don't deliberately sin over and over again and top it off with the sin of praying a lie for forgiveness. A Christian, though not sinless, will actually try to be as much like Christ as possible.

If you by saying "so many christians" are referring to Yahoos Q&A, I suggest you take what you hear with a grain of salt. A lot of the people here are trying to get a rise out of others. Others like yourself are jaded by rude manners. Remember the words of St. Paul,"Faith without good works, is dead." Also reconsider when you say "Many Christians are bigots". That is exactly what you are complaining about from Christians. Making that generalization is also an act of bigotry because you are applying the specfic to the general.

Religion is an invented theory to control populations. Many have come and gone, the main idea being; do as I say, pay me a share of your earnings, and I will make you a promise that when you die, you will be rewarded. Simple money making concept. Look how these beliefs have caused so many wars all through history, and even now in to-day's news.
It is always a "we" against "they". Live your life as best you can, do no harm and be honest. Best wishes Have you ever noticed how many religious leaders live in luxury??

OK. Here comes one of those answers you aren't going to like:

You can get into Heaven (according to the bible) just by repenting all your sins and accepting Jesus at the last minute after living a life of almost pure evil because God doesn't give a rat's patoot about human beings. You can hurt as many of your fellow humans as you want for as long as you want right up to 23 seconds before you die because god considers us disposable. He doesn't care, just so long as you kiss his butt on your deathbed. Kill as many people as you like, just as long as you show the proper fear and respect, eventually.

This could stem from the fact that we really ARE insignificant bugs compared to him, since he's at least a huge as the universe, if not larger, or he could just be an insane, jealous, vindictive cosmic dick.

You be the judge.

Yes living a good life on this earth does not affect getting intoheaven. It depends on what have you done whether many good doings than bad doings or oppositely.Good doings should be in line with our religion. If we insult someone we should ask him/her for apologize.and you must keep no insulting anymore. Many christians are bigot but we must know them whether they are really compliance to the religion as a life guide in their everyday of lives. We can not believe them based on their acknowledgement or statement only
