I would like to add my name of the prayer list for Tony Snow. I greatly admire him and I know that his faith will carry him through but would like to add my name to the list of those who are praying for him. I lost my husband to cancer and I know how much he looked forward to the prayers of others and he did feel their prayers. My very best to Mr. Snow and God Speed his recovery.

Lots of questions for you all today.

Ok. I assume Christians see adultry so wrong because of the commandment forbidding it. If you are an athiest, is adultry allowed?

Not being smart a**ed, just curious.

In reference to a question I asked some time ago:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ali69Qh8yZOGoCVORtE20.fsy6IX?qid=20070326161925AAtfWDA

I appreciate everyone who took the time to answer, but no one bothered to answer the main part of my question. Let me try and reword it:

In a religion that does not believe in using birth control (other than Family Planning,) would it be okay to take an oral contreceptive to help prevent a medical condition like endometriosis? While it is not a fact that progesterone only contreceptives do that, there is significant evidence for it. Since the birth control is being prescribed basically as medicine rather than as something that "interferes with procreation," would it be acceptable?

*Again, this is not meant to be offensive. I don't want to know whether I should use contreceptives or not. I just want to know how people in these religions would view this.

of us covering his creation (our bodies) with clothing? Do you not think he intended us all to walk around naked and proud? I think anyone who is truly christian would be happy to be seen naked. But every supposed christian I know has too many hang - ups and so can't really be a christian.

have always thought that Muslims teach their kids to be tolerant and peacful until I found many TV shows that show Muslim scholars who say very weird things about other religions. One of those shows can be found here:

http://switch5.castup.net/frames/20041020_MemriTV_Popup/video_480x360.asp?ai=214&ar=672wmv&ak=null

Where is the truth? Is Islam really the religion of tolerance?

surely there are worse things going on in the world. If one is happy then God would be ok with it. I don't understand how in 2007 some Christians can be so prim and worry that we don't honour God if we have sex before marriage? serious question so please only serious answers

This is a serious question, and not for some smart alecy atheist please...

I still have some troubles understanding exactly what is going on in Revelations. It is my understanding, especially from reading the final 3-4 chapters, as if noone will be resurrected from death until after the Tribulation and Armageddon, which would mean that we don't go straight to Heaven or Hell when we die, right? I understand though, that to the dead, this period of time would seem to be "in the twinkling of an eye"...

Also, I am not sure if I have this right, but it looks as if at least some people get another chance, that Satan is loosed to test humanity again, and that there will be people living outside of the city of God (Zion, Jeruselum, whatever it is called,) so are those people people who were lost but not totally evil, or people who were Christians, but backslidden, or what, what is going on after the Tribulation is over?

a horrible story in the biography of prophet Muhammed that one of his companions KILLED his wife because she told him she did not like what prophet Muhammed was doing.

After KILLING his wife, the man confessed to prophet Muhammed and told him she was very decent and kind to him but he could not stand her insulting prophet Muhammed. When prophet Muhammed heard that he praised the man.

I was very surprised to read that story because I thought that killing should be a MJOR CRIME that should never be praised.

http://hadith.al-islam.com/Display/Display.asp?hnum=3795&doc=4

(1) Is that story true?
(2) Was prophet Muhammed just to praise somone for KILLING?

Thanks for reading the details, I'm just curious to see what everyone's opinion is. So, is it just straight up penis in vagina intercourse, or would other sex acts count as well? And what if a woman realizes from a young age that she's a lesbian, and goes her whole life only having sexual experiences with women. Does that mean she's died a virgin?

There is a verse in the Quran [4:34] that tells Muslim men that if they fear their wives want to leave them, they can advise their wives, punish them or even beat them.

However, there is another verse in the same chapter of the Quran [4:128] that tells Muslim women if they fear their husbands want to leave them, they can give up some of their rights (food, sex, or any other right) in order to keep their husbands.

Is there any reason for the difference between the way a man can handle the problem of his wife leaving him (by advising her, punishing her or even beating her), and a woman that handles the SAME problem (when her husbands wants to leave her) by giving up some of her rights?

Some people have strong opinions about this .... what do you think?

2007-03-28 10:43:11 · 19 answers · asked by Deirdre H 7

I was thinking. He is co-equal to god. He comes down to earth for about 30 years... suffers intensely for a couple of days. Then is right back to being a divine being that will NEVER suffer any harm for ETERNITY. Is that really such a sacrifice? For either him or god?

I mean how many people here would honestly say no thank you to allowing their DIVINE son to go down for 30 years out of oh... infinity, to teach a few lessons?

And how many people would jump at the opportunity to be the son of god if it meant you had to suffer for 3 days and then live for ETERNITY in heaven? Really, where's the sacrifice?

Here's a little bible lesson for you.
The Babylonians were very cruel in their capture of the jewish people. They took jewish infants and smashed their bodies against rocks. The psalm is all about the lament over what the babylonians did to the jewish people and their cries for revenge. Here's the context:.
"1. By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat, we also wept when we remembered Zion.
2. On willows in its midst we hung our harps.
3. For there our captors asked us for words of song and our tormentors [asked of us] mirth, "Sing for us of the song of Zion."
4. "How shall we sing the song of the Lord on foreign soil?"
5. If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget [its skill].
6. May my tongue cling to my palate, if I do not remember you, if I do not bring up Jerusalem at the beginning of my joy.
7. Remember, O Lord, for the sons of Edom, the day of Jerusalem, those who say, "Raze it, raze it, down to its foundation!"

I have recently asked roughly a dozen mormon questions. I have gotten some feedback that some of them may be offensive and attacking.

My position: Each question is just that: a question. The questions relate to obscure, little-known facts about Mormon doctrines, history, and leaders that have been forgotten, as a result of simple passing of time or due to repression of documents by the Church. I am bringing truth to light while at the same time checking my conclusions for inaccuracies.

LDS position: Many doctrines are no longer practiced; since the church is led by revelation, God adapts His counsel to the needs of his people as times change. bringing up old things is useless and needlessly offensive. some of the doctrines I brink up are considered sacred, and it is offensive to them for me to make light of them.

I am considering re-evaluating my tactics. What are your suggestions for asking more constructive questions without sacrificing open speech and the quest for truth?
