i've always been an agnostic borderline atheist and it occured to me, last night, actually, that maybe i don't believe b/c then i would be acknowledging things like evil and ideas like being possesed!!

what do you think??
do we agnostics/atheists just bury our heads in the sand so we don't have to face scary stuff??

I prefer the Roman Catholic because it is the only church founded by Christ while others are from someone who says they are the prophet or agels. am i right?

A short while ago I posted a question invoking the all-too-apparent similarities between christianity's "god" / "Jesus" / etc... and Cthulhu.... implying (of course) that christians are in fact worshipping Cthulhu.

The question got instantly deleted... like so fast I didn't even get to see it up for an instant.

Does this not stick of someone trying to cover up the truth to you?

Hey, I'll start off by saying i'm 15 years old, and i recieved the call to preach during the winter, and this Sunday my paster is having me do a "Sermonette". Im worried that since im so young people wont take me seriously, i really feel i have recieved this message from god, but i dont want to be taken as not being serious. What should i do?

Saying that one part of the Bible is symbolic and another is literal is not a problem - it's just the way it is. And it is inarguable. Here is a figurative/symbolic/metaphorical passage: Solomon 5 12 "His eyes are like doves
by the water streams,
washed in milk,
mounted like jewels." See? That can't possibly be taken literally. There are two similes here. His eyes are like doves. That's figurative. They are not REALLY like doves (with wings and beeks), but they are beautiful like doves are. So there it is - it's out - some portion of the Bible is not literal. The sky is still there, and the sun still shines.

It's not. It's another word for messiah, which is a title. Messiah, in turn, is a Jewish word and concept that refers to a great HUMAN BEING (not a demi-god) like King David, who is expected to be a leader who rebuilds the temple. Jesus was Jesus of Nazareth.

Heavenly Father created all mankind, therefore we consider him our Father, He also is the Father to Jesus, making us all brothers and sisters.If satan is not our brother does that mean Heavenly Father did not create him? I am trying to prove the Bible false so I don't have to be bothered with it anymore, I am told there are historical inaccurancies and would like to know what those are and can they be used to prove that the Bible is a big ugly evil multi-generational, and intenational conspiracy designed to perpetuate power in the religious leaders of the Christian faith and bring about a mass world wide mind control and slavery!

How did Judaism transition away from passages such as Leviticus 20:13 "If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them"? I see a similar movement within Christianity and am interested to know whether the reasoning is similar or dissimilar.
