Hmmm, well, I don't know how many actually believe that the earth is flat.
But I do know there is a lot of....well, either dis-ingenuousness or ignorance when they claim that the bible says that the earth is a sphere.
There are people who will say that the word "circle" in Genesis means "sphere", indicating that the earth is a sphere. This view seems most unlikely since the Hebrew word gh means "circle," *and there is a better Hebrew word for "sphere," rwd.*

Every single Christian I've ever talked to has believed in Science. A lot of early science was founded by Christians and others of religions. What scientists today are building on was most likely first founded by someone deeply religious way back in the day. I haven't heard a Christian ever deny science (some practices, maybe, but as a whole, never), but I've seen a few Atheists deny Christians any credit for science and try to make them out to be drooling idiots who don't think.

They'll give you all sorts of guff about how in the bible it says the world is round and that it was scientists who said the world is flat.
I got a violation once for suggesting they read the work of Carl Sagan (his book Cosmos), one of the 20th century's most respected scientists. They all refuse to read valid explanations of evolution and then chuck a hissy if you ignore something they cut & paste from "Christian Science" (now that's an oxymoron) magazine.
They'll tell you the only scientists who tell the truth are the christians who are trying to call themselves scientists while they push ideas based on belief.

As the Bible states in several places that the earth is a sphere, even without science, Christians know that the world is not flat. That was a lie taught by scientist for many centuries.

sounds like a generalization to me....
Some Christians don't believe Some Scientists.... maybe is a better way to put the question...
I don't believe that all people speak the truth about all subjects.... God gives great gifts to people, including scientists, who have discovered ways to help others... then there are scientists who are hellbent on trying to disprove something they cannot disprove... why not use the gift for helping and creating ways to better humanity?

SOME christians (not all christians), but a significant segment of them and a very vocal segment, use science (and anything else for that matter) to prove, convince, pursuade etc people to "believe" in the christian myth. Of course when science (or anything else for that matter) come into conflict with their christian beliefs, they then turn on them and defamate those claims as either inaccurate or outright lies. The problem with this strategy is that it is morally bankrupt (something they often accuse the rest of us of being) in that you cannot have it both ways. If you are going to rely on the accuracy and truth of science (or anything else for that matter) then you cannot turn around when it suits your fancy and deny that same body of knowledge. Its either right or it isn't. Once again, this only applies to SOME christians, not all.

This Christian doesn't think the Earth is flat or eliptical. The Earth is an oblate spheroid.
I got 2 thumbs down for pointing out the correct shape of the Earth? It's not round. It's not flat. It's not elliptical. It's an oblate spheroid. That's its shape.

Eliptical? Thought that had to do with the orbit not how the earth was shaped. Well, I must go back to school and learn some new things, it appears I haven't read the "new science weekly."

I'm a Christian AND a Science type. Stop being so narrow minded. You are listening to the fringe wackos on the right way too much. They really don't speak for everyone

Christians can choose what they want to believe - personally i feel like some things that scientist say do make sense and yet there are some things that are completely ridiculous.
Worry about your own religion and beliefs.
