i've always been an agnostic borderline atheist and it occured to me, last night, actually, that maybe i don't believe b/c then i would be acknowledging things like evil and ideas like being possesed!!
what do you think??
do we agnostics/atheists just bury our heads in the sand so we don't have to face scary stuff??

Isn't 'denile' the deriver in deEgypt? It's denial, anyway......I am an atheist and I am such because I know there is no god, no devil, no demons, etc. so fear plays absolutely no part.

When I was in denile of God it was because I did not want to live the commandments or change my life.
I found a church that told me the blessings as appouse to the consiquences and had a promise.
The promise was to read the book oof Mormon and ask God in the name of Christ if these things are true and if we do this he will manifest the truth to us.
I testify that there is one true church and religion that carrys the holy Melchezidic preisthood and has the athority to preach the gospel and tell you of blessings that you can obtain through obediance.
God would not leave his children without further revelation and guidance but he does expect us to put forth effort to finsd him.
There are 14 million members worldwide who will back these statements.

Acceptance of god is due to fear of evil. Denial is the embracing of reality.
No evil, no god. Just things that do stuff

I am Cleopatra, queen of Denile...
=0)
I tease...I rather think that religion is more denial based, simply because the responsibilty shifts from personal, to the "divine".

actually it's far scarier to not believe in god. that means then that this life is all you get, and that after you die you simply cease to exist, that's a hard enough concept to wrap your head around, much less accept. people are religious because they are scared, scared of the change that is the only permanent feature of life. believing in god means you can believe that you will see everyone and everything that means something that was imortant to you again

Not at all. I spent my early life trying to reconcil reality with what the Bible taught and then realized it was futile. Evil is not an enity but the worse things we can do to others.

Sure, we're the ones with our heads in the sand. The ones claiming they don't actually die, but instead live for eternity in paradise, they're the ones facing reality, yes?

I'm not scared of any of it. I don't believe in evil. I believe some people do bad things. Sometimes very very bad things. But I don't believe some evil force made them do it. I think they're just mental.

No. Denial of god is down to there being equal evidence for god as for unicorns. None. Say no to jesus

What about ghosts, and the bogeyman? Are you not believing in ghosts and in the bogeyman just due to fear of them?
