It is harder to be an theist, as you have to question life a little more, rather than blindly conforming to a religion and its text of rules and behaviour.

However, I think it must be even harder being religious and finding yourself seriously questioning your faith.

Depends on where you are located and what are the views of people who live in that country. A Muslim can have hard times in the US or the UK because there is a mindset that most terrorists are Muslims and you are investigated on even if you have a clean record and live a dignified life over there. A Christian can have hard times in portions of Afghanistan where the Islamic Jihadi's believe that everyone except Muslims are following wrong paths.

Similarly it would depend on the religion, the place, the mindset, the society's outlook, etc.

But i guess the time has come to have religious tolerance all over the world.

I am thinking it is much harder to be religious period.

It has to get disheartening contently hearing about scientific findings that you can't admit to believing in, even though you know that they will benefit society.

Every time scientists make a discovery, the religious have to assign it to the devil, or bad scientists who are out to get them. It has to be taxing, and eventually they will be worn down with an overwhelming wall of evidence.

Its so much easier being Atheist or Agnostic. Science becomes a wonderful thing that can give us hope, rather than an evil trying to break our Faith.

Each, it seem, has its own struggles. Struggles that are amplified when you live somewhere that the predominate beliefs are different from your own.

As I find myself deeply examining the beliefs that I have called my own for so long, I believe it must be hardest for Atheists. Most seem to have come to their belief as a result of a struggle between rational questioning and the beliefs held by so many around them. And then to contend with so many around you constantly telling you that you must believe something that doesn't make sense in you head and that you cannot feel with your heart - "or else".

To anyone I have offended in this post I apologize. This is merely a mix of my observation and my personal opinion during this period of my ever evolving spirituality.

I think it's harder to follow a faith then to be Atheist. The reason is because it is harder to put your faith in something you can't see, touch or interact with, but believe is there then it is to just believe in what science can show you. This is not an insult to Atheists, I just think that it's harder to be a follower of a faith then of science.

Its irrelevent how hard it is, the question to me is what is truth.

If you lived in Nazi Germany in 1938 it was probably easier to be a Nazi. Choosing the way I live based on what is easiest is not a choice for me. I am constrained by my honesty to seek truth. As a result, I really have no choice but to be an atheist. I am sure it would be easier just to go along with all the bigotry and hatred and just be a Christian but that path is not open to me.

It's not particularly easy being an agnostic. Even the most independant people sometimes just want to crawl in a hole and have someone else tell them what to think and what to feel. On a few occasions I have missed the emotional crutch of christianity. Taking the easy road never got anything done.

i reckon its harder having any faith than having none at all. if your Muslim you'll always have somebody slamming your beliefs, or Jewish or Hindu or Christian or whatever.

I've been both, and I believe it is much harder to be an atheist. There is too much to deny that is staring you right in the face. I lived a vast majority of my life as an atheist, and I was truly miserable. Then one day I could not deny it anymore. Since then my life has been better 10 fold. I have everything I've ever wanted and needed.
The first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have one.
