Here is a question: Explain how the bibles says the world is only 6,000 years old. Creationists believe the grand canyon was made by one massive flood. Use Geological evidence supporting your answers.

I can prove how it wasn't made in one big flood, using geological evidence based on sediments, fossils, and comparing areas that were influenced by massive floods. can you?

the Ten Commandments or Jesus mentioned in the Constitution or in any federal law pertaining to the required following of the Bible? Is the sentence "you shall have no other God before me" or the sentence "You shall not make for yourself an image, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth" found in our laws?

For those of you who don't understand what it is I am asking, I am aware of the separation of church and state. But some fundamentalists aren't.They insist that America is a Christian nation and was founded on the Bible. They claim that everything American was born in their faith. And they insist that we must return to this "past time" of being true Christians who follow the Bible. So, this question is directed at them.

I was in a relationship with a Jehova's Witness and she said that it's not right and the Bible says it. Is that true?

According to the bible, man cannot look upon the face of god? Is this a physical, spirital metaphor, or is it literal?

Why are there so many contradictions in the bible?
What happened in Jesus' life between the ages of 18 and 30?
Who wrote the bible?
Why do people in the bible live for hundreds of years when the average life span during that time was about 30?
Why does god only exist in the bible? (i.e. he only takes action in the bible)

According to the clear and uncontestable archeological proof of the "passover letter" from the oldest continuous Jewish Temple complex, Elephantine Island, Egypt, (419 BCE), the Passover Ceremony only came into effect under the reign of prophet/governor Nehemiah under the Persians from at least 430-420 BCE.

See;

If this is the case, then the story about Moses and the Passover meal in Egypt cannot possibly be historically true. How historically accurate therefore is the Bible? Is your answer based on more than just faith and hearsay?

Why do they both think they have the universe all figured out?. Isnt it best to keep an open mind. I dont think anyone knows real truth. I kno there is meaning tho...I have felt it thru entheogens and meditation. Alot of people only think of god as in Abrahamic religions. I see the concept of 'god' very abstract. I dont see god as a creator or anything. I might start listening to science when it explains why the universe one day...somehow....just deciced to appear from 'nothingness. So isnt time to realize that neither of you have truth...so you can stop fighting?

I have the ability to prove on demand most of the passages in the Bible using evidence from the most credentialed scholars and even from some who are decidedly anti-Christian or anti-Semitic.

Whenever someone makes statements like this, doesn't it occur to you to call their bluff?

It seems to me that non-Christians are actually frightened of the truth and of facts because of the protection they need of their own beliefs. For all the arrogant bluster, isn't there anyone here with enough actual education to challenge me?

I don't see this behavior among Christians. I've not noticed them often making up their own science or facts to support preconceived belief systems the way non-believers do.

Any takers? Please, by all means post a question if you think you've got something.

The Bible is not proof, I'm talking geological evidence that there was a world wide flood.

Also here are some other questions:
-Where'd the water go?
-How did Noah fit 2 of EVERY animal on that ark?
-How did Noah get every bacteria on the ark
-How did they know it was an olive branch (or fig branch) after just a maximum of one week, how did the distinguishing leaves grow back in one week from a tree that was just drowned for forty or so days?

And while you're at it, why is there no mention of the ice age in the Bible....I never got a good answer on that one.

Before you say that the seven days of creation were actually eons, remember this passage: ‘But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female’ (Mark 10:6) This would make humans eons of years old as well.

So how do you reconcile this young earth with the overwhelming scientific evidence such as radiometric dating, mathematical analysis of the universe, etc.

This is another problem that I've seen tonight. Non-Christians are often errant in their interpretations of the Bible, definitions (such as faith--see Hebrews 11:1), common beliefs and common behaviors.

I guess my question is, are non-Christians capable of rational and objective observation, or is it just too difficult to be honest?

When you ask questions of believers, do you find it necessary to make up your own facts, and if you do, do you think you'll be taken seriously by those of us who know better?
