Because they are the ones that you love!! I think it has to do with expectations. Somehow we expect the ones that love us to not hurt us but when they do it hurts more.

Everyone deceives everyone else. It's human nature. Without deception, you have no privacy, a basic human need. The closer you are to a person, however, the more likely you are to discover the deception. Not only that, but deception can be used as a way to protect someone from a hurtful truth, and who would you want to protect, if not your loved ones?

Because subconciously we know (or think/hope) they will always be there. We test the bounds of the relationship. I have done it in past relationships; I still do it know sometimes, though not in big ways. We tend to hurt those that love us most. I guess it's just easier to direct venting, deception, etc. at someone that will stick around, than to direct it at others who we know will not put up with it. It's a crazy way of interpersonal "communication", but it's reality.
P.S. Congrats, on the engagement!

They don't, I think all people deceive equally, however, the people closest to us are the most visible, and in turn we see there deceptions with greater clarity.
For example, I could tell you I'm a doctor, but you wouldn't know the difference because you don't know me. I couldn't tell someone who knows me the same thing because they would see through my deception.

Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom [Mic. 7:5].
This reveals something of the awful condition that existed in that day, and it has been true pretty much of all the so–called civilizations of this world. It is a big, mean world outside. We need to recognize this, especially if we are to take a stand for God. The Lord Jesus said, “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword” (Matt. 10:34). As long as there is evil in the world there will be a conflict and a war between that which is of the flesh and that which is of the Spirit, between light and darkness, between good and evil.
There is that kind of a spiritual struggle going on in the world.
The Lord Jesus went on to say in Matthew, “For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter–in–law against her mother–in–law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household” (Matt. 10:35–36). You will not be able to trust your own family. Micah says, “Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.” Over the years I have heard of many such instances—and it works both ways, of course—when a wife has not been able to trust her husband, and a husband has not been able to trust his wife.
We live in a day when the word of man seems to carry less value than it ever has before. You cannot believe what you read, and you cannot believe what you hear on radio or on television. The child of God should test everything. I say this very candidly: test every radio program you listen to by the Word of God. Test my Bible–teaching broadcast; test them all. You will be wise if you do this because the human nature is not to be trusted.

Some people deceive people they are close to because they don't think the person will question their motives and won't really question their honesty. It's easier to fool someone if they believe you.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer perhaps?
I don't know, never had that problem. I only really care about a few people and there's still fewer I would trust.

i totally agree with what eastchic2 had said. we usually like to think the person that love us the most will always be there and because they openly show how much they care, we feel they still love no matter what.

sometimes i think is is because they figure they can get away with it because the party being deceived trust them and the deceiver gets away with it. I think the answer is because they can get away with it. I think.
