A young woman teacher with obvious liberal tendencies explains to her class of small children that she is an atheist. She asks her class if they are atheists too. Not really knowing what atheism is but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands explode into the air like fleshy fireworks.

There is, however, one exception. A beautiful girl named Lucy has not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I'm not an atheist." "Then," asks the teacher, "what are you?" "I'm a Christian."

The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red. She asks Lucy why she was a Christian. "Well, I was brought up knowing and loving Jesus. My mom is a Christian, and my dad is a Christian, so I am a Christian."

The teacher is now angry. "That's no reason," she says loudly. "What if your mom was a moron, and your dad was a moron. What would you be then?" A pause, and a smile. "Then," says Lucy, "I'd be an atheist."

People are always condemning Christians for doing supposedly "bad" things for the sake of the greater good, like trying to save people's souls at the cost of their lives in the Inquisitions. But isn't that truly the ultimate act of divinity? Doesn't God want us to be willing to get our hands dirty and make a few moral compromises for the sake of our ultimate goal of eradicating sin and attaining paradise?

Consider the fact that the only real way to reconcile the Problem of Evil is by saying that natural evils like tornadoes and earthquakes and cancer are a part of God's plan and will ultimately all be for the best. In other words, suffering is all a part of God's grand design for the universe, and its final outcome, whatever that may be, will be worth all the pain and death.

For that reason, shouldn't we try to emulate God, and thus bring ourselves closer to the divine? If we must make people suffer in this life in order to bring them heavenly joy in the next, surely we should do so.

Peace is a state of harmony, absent open hostility. This term is applied to describe a cessation of or lapse in violent international conflict; in this international context, peace is the opposite of war. Peace can also describe a relationship between any parties characterized by respect, justice, and goodwill.
More generally, peace can pertain to an individual relative to her or his environment, as peaceful can describe calm, serenity, and silence. This latter understanding of peace can also pertain to an individual's sense of himself or herself, as to be "at peace" with one's self would indicate the same serenity, calm, and equilibrium within oneself.

some bloke with a beard in the sky sitting there waiting to smite us all?

Before you all jump on my head, I DON'T see God that way, and I didn't think anyone else over the age of 5 did either... but recently, I have just met a lot of otherwise sensible who think of God in this way.

What is that about? I thought it was a metaphor... I've always thought that.

I can't think of a single example. Because every Christian has been a good person and done good things, Christianity must be true.

It’s a ‘simple’ question; please provide a ‘simple’ answer.

This relates to the illegal occupation of Palestine, where people are occupied and are resisting the occupation and fighting to get their land back.

Forget the long history to biblical times and relate this to the current situation.

If your land was occupied, would you not fight to get it back, would you, if you were alive during World War Two have fought the Nazi’s rather than give your country to them?

Obviously, most people would answer ‘Yes’, then why does the world deny the Palestinians from fighting for sovereignty?

I always hear about God is this and God is that. What about the old serpent name satan, lucifer. the devil. Shouldn't we blame him for everything? he is all the oppisite of what God is. satan is a lier, destroyer, a thief, a deciever who will or has decieved the whole world.
What do you think?
