In theory it shouldn't because it isnt about Jesus its about Brian, which is quite clearly stated throughout the film. The only people being ridiculed are not Christians but people who tried to create a cult out of the "False Prophet" Brian
At the beginning of the film the wise men find Brian by mistake & then come back for their gifts for the baby being born in the stable next door!
The whole point and joke of the film is mistaken identity not blasphemy!
"He's NOT the messaiah, he's a very naughty boy!"

put it this way, to all the people who think the life of brian is a funny film. Laughter can be an expression of fear, and although I refuse to see all of the film because I find it offensive to my beliefs, I would not condone or deny anyone who wanted to watch it. It does not harm my Faith in Jesus Christ one tiny speck. In fact I find the film just a pathetic money grabbing idea from what were great comedians, tarnished by their lack of respect for peoples Faith. If it were the renamed and reproduced as the life of Ali, or the life of Ghandi. No doubt a fatwah would be on the lives of the producers of the film and actors alike. So laugh all you like, Christians are the soft touch, who turn the other cheek. As far as I'm concerned, the more honourable, loving and peaceful of religions. We expect to be despised and persecuted for His names sake. And we are very glad to be so.

Why should Christians be offended over a film?
Some feel the film pokes fun at the life of Christ. As offensive as this is Christ would not want our defense He commands our obedience.
Remember what happened to Peter when the Romans came to take Jesus away, Jesus rebuked Peter not the Romans.
Christians take HEED read scriptures don't fall into the evil one's trap.

Yes, they were - I advise watching a documentary called "The Secret Life of Brian", which covers some of the uproar at the time of its release. It was banned in many towns, and debated at length on TV.

I consider myself to be a Christian and I think it was one of the funniest films ever made.
God gave us the ability to laugh at ourselves and I believe he has that quality too. So long as it is not done too disrespectfully.

Some are, some are not. Depends how strong they are in their faith and how much importance they place on a film!
